WMIK and the Mutual Broadcasting System
1948-1950

The Earliest Mutual Programs

WMIK affiliated with the Mutual Broadcasting System in 1948. On the first day of broadcasting, Sunday, November 14, 1948, Mutual programming began just as soon as the opening day activities were over. WMIK continued with Mutual until May 1950.

The Family Theater aired on WMIK for the first time on Wednesday, November 17, 1948 at 9:30pm. The station had been on the air for only four days having begun broadcasting the previous Sunday. Aside from a few minutes of the opening day ceremony which may be forever lost, this episode is the oldest available program broadcast over WMIK.
