Now Playing: Comment on Middlesborough History Website
Formed out of a meteor crater by a would-be 19th century Robber Baron; depending on an economy largely dependent on black rocks from deep inside the earth, and dominated by streets named after English cities, Middlesboro is a town like few others in the world. Anyone can comment on the Middlesborough History website photographs here, or you can just tell your own story of the town. Your memories are always welcome!

Thanks, Chuck.  Wow, what memories.  We moved to Middlesboro when I was in the 5th grade; rented a house from Allen Lumber Company.  Was still living there when I got married in 1963.  I walked through the Lumber Co. to get home from school every day.  There were 3 houses back there.  I usually ate a chili dog and cherry coke at Scott's and had money left over to get a "fried" donut with ice cream on top at the New York Grill.  I recall a parade held for Charles Frost when he came home after being a POW for three years in Korea.  Charles died last month in Radcliff.  I contacted the Daily News about his death, but Brandy was more interested in putting a picture of her dog in the newspaper than doing a story about a war hero.  Didn't really expect her to be interested since she's still trying (after 2 years) to prove to me that April Fool's Day is a National Holiday.  I have had a great time strolling through Middlesboro's history.  Thanks again!

Thank you so much for all  the research, time and expertise to create the Middlesborough History Website.  The content is marvelous and should be required reading for any newcomer to the Tri State area.  Really, beautifully done and so very informative, would loved to have been a resident during some of the warm  and happy years.

Blessings and good health as you move forward to bring 'back the Magic!
