His Voice
Have you ever wondered what the voice of Jesus sounded like
when he spoke? The Bible tells us that he was a gentle man. We
usually think that meant he was soft spoken and a quiet man. Just
think, there were no micro phones or loud speakers when Jesus
spoke to the five thousand. If you have ever been in a large crowd,
then you know how noisy five thousand people must have been.
I don’t think that everyone was still enough, that you could have
heard a pin drop. I think that even the sound of so many breathing
would have been quite loud. Were they all in front of him or all
around him? If all around him, then his back was turned to some
while he spoke, making it that much harder to hear.
If in front, then some would have been hundreds of feet away,
and could not possibly of heard. It would have taken a miracle for
all to hear, and I’m sure they all did hear each and every word. No
one missed out on what he had to say.
I think his voice was what ever it needed to be, to who ever
needed to hear it. There are no words that can truly explain his
voice, but you know it when he speaks to you. He might say:
"Follow me" if so, he leaves it up to you to answer back to him.
Do you say "Yes Lord, I will follow you" or do you pretend not
to hear. Sometimes I can feel the sadness in his voice, when he
says: "There my people sit, wearing the varnish off of all the
benches, while thousands perish around them on every side and
still they sit". How do I know that is what he said? I recognized
His Voice.
