News from our first ASCA Trial in Indiana - October 11 & 12

We made it to our first ASCA trial this weekend. The first day was very disappointing as the sheep were superglued to our legs and it was hard to get the points for 'controlling' the stock that ASCA judges want to see. So we got our legs but no ribbons. On ducks, only Grace was entered and she would not move the ducks. I was so frustrated that I decided not to run Grace on ducks the next day.
The second day was much better as it required a bit of an outrun which was good for us. Grace and Chance both did nice jobs on the sheep and Grace got a 4th place and Chance finished just out of the ribbons. I decided to run Chance in ducks even though he had never seen a duck before I figured he couldn't do worse than Grace and we were buying 15 of the ducks anyway so I could afford to lose one or two. :-)
As it turns out, Chance was great and ended up with a 4th place in ducks. I was very proud of him.
We drove home over 4 hrs with 15 quacking ducks in the back of the car. It was pure torture for Grace who turned her back to the ducks and pretended that there were no ducks. Chance was amused and spent much of the time staring curiously at the crates.
Next, it's on to Fla for another AKC trial!
