News from our first AHBA Trial - July 26 & 27
Grace was entered into the HRD I and HTD I competitions, Chance was entered in JHD.
Grace did a beautiful job all weekend, her mother was less competent.
Thankfully Grace made up for my poor performance and ended up 2nd in both HRD classes to get her HRD I title.
The HTD was more difficult because of the larger area and the fact that there were dogs covering the lower
end of the arena to avoid escapes through the tensile wire fence.
I ended up walking through one of the panels the first day (not permitted in HTD) and we wound up with a 4th place.
The second day Grace's score was great on HTD until the pen where I messed up and failed to have to pen open before the
sheep got there. I then over-flanked Grace and the sheep escaped. We gathered them again and re-penned but it was too
late. We lost all our points on that part of the course and did not qualify.
All the competitors seemed very taken with Grace and referred to her as 'the little sheltie'.
Chance qualified both days (the second day in the driving rain) to earn his JHD title.
