Henry Overbey was born June 17, 1777. He came to Kentucky from near Danville, Virginia. The exact date when Henry came to Kentucky is unknown, however, he was listed as a taxpayer in Harrison County, Kentucky in the early 1800s.

Henry Overbey bought his first tract of land in what is now Robertson County on the west bank of Johnson Creek opposite the village of Piqua. This eighty-seven and one- half acre farm was purchased from David Gray for two hundred seven and one-half dollars and was recorded in the Nicholas County Clerk's office on April 21, 1810. The first house erected on this farm was of stone and wood. The main part was one large room of stone with a shed room attached to the rear made of wood. It had a gabled roof and faced east toward Johnson Creek.

The Overbey Graveyard is located on this tract of land. It lies about four hundred yards Northwest of the present village of Piqua. The following named ancestors are buried in this cemetery: Henry Overbey, Mary (Polly) Overbey, Nathaniel Perry Overbey, Seth Curtis, Jane Curtis, Job Curtis and Margery Curtis. (Another account states that Margery Curtis was buried in the old Pyles (Chamberlin) graveyard). Henry added to his holdings and when he died, August 30, 1836, he owned nine hundred twenty-five acres. A portion of Henry's land is presently owned by his great grandson Earl Wesley Overbey.

Henry Overbey was married three times. He and his first wife, Mary (Polly) Conway, were married on April 24, 1806. Mary Conway, (B. March 30, 1791), was the daughter of John Conway, Jr. and Ann Sutton Conway. Mary (Polly) died March 6, 1824.

Henry Overbey's second wife was Sarah (Sally) Curtis, born February 19, 1795. She was the daughter of Seth and Jane Curtis. Henry and Sarah's marriage bond was dated November 29, 1826.

Henry married, his third wife, Polly Crawford on November 8, 1829. Henry Overbey had no children by his second or third wives.

Henry Overbey and Mary (Polly) Conway had eight children. They were:

John E. Overbey, son of Henry and Mary C. Overbey, was born about 1807. His wife Elizabeth (Throckmorton) was born about 1804. John and Elizabeth had three children.

• Henry T. Overbey was born in April of 1835. Henry T. Overbey and Sarah Hildrith, born about 1840, were married September 17, 1857. Henry T. and Sarah Overbey had five children: Em, born July 19, 1858; John M., (B. November 11, 1859), married Jennie M. Robinson on Jan. 12, 1881; Anna F., born about 1868, married a Mr .Miller; William, born October 1876; and Aris, born February 1879.  Henry T. Overbey's army discharge described him as 160 lbs., 5'6' tall, with a dark complexion and coarse black hair.
• Mary Susan Overbey was born about 1836.
• Sarah E. Overbey was born about 1849.

Harvey Henry Overbey, son of Henry and Mary C. Overbey, was born about 1814. Harvey H. Overbey married Elizabeth McMahill. Elizabeth was born, August 3, 1818, and died, May 2, 1850. They had four children:

• Robert Overbey was born about 1840.
• Mary A. (Maude) Overbey was born about 1842. Mary A. Overbey married William Browne and moved to Cass Station, Georgia.
• William Thomas Overbey, son of Harvey H. and Elizabeth Overbey, was born about 1846. He married Sophia Hughes of Nicholas County. William Thomas "Tom" Overbey owned and operated the hotel at Blue Licks until he sold the property in 1879. Tom Overbey moved to Bourbon County and has descendants in the central Kentucky area.
• Elizabeth Overbey was born March 29, 1849. Elizabeth married Newton Taylor on Nov. 15, 1868.

• James Overbey was born about 1837. He was a Confederate soldier. James Overbey was murdered, in 1878, by Reuben Henry Gale.
• Henry C. Overbey was born about 1840.
• Oscar P. Overbey, son of Richard and Jane Overbey, was born in February 1843, and died April 10, 1924. Oscar Overbey was a Confederate Corporal. CSA - Ky. 3rd Mounted Rifles. Oscar P. Overbey married Mariah E. Wells on Jan. 14, 1869. Mariah was born in May 1852. Oscar and Mariah had nine children; Ella K., born January 1870, died 1932. Ella married George Thomas Brumagen; Mary E., born about 1871; Dora J., born about 1873; Fannie, born November 1875; Cora, born March 1880; Ernie?, born May 1882; Grover C., (B October 1884) married Catharine Carpenter on Jan. 1, 1908; Sally, born November 1887; and Alva, born February, 1892.
• Elizabeth A. Overbey was born about 1843.
• Angeline Overbey was born about 1845.
• Mary Overbey was born about 1846.
• William Overbey was born about 1849.
• Francis "Franklin" Overbey was born about 1849. He married Susan Darnall on Nov. 16, 1870. Susan was born April 1851. Franklin and Susan had two children; Neal (B. ca 1876, D. April 1, 1946) married Edna Curtis on Oct. 8, 1923; and Lulie, born July 1884.
• Richard Overbey was born about 1852.
• Laura B. Overbey was born Oct. 6, 1856.

Nathaniel Perry Overbey, son of Henry and Mary C. Overbey, was born February 20, 1820, and died February 4, 1875. Nathaniel P. Overbey married Elizabeth Ogle on October 14, 1852.
