The name Walker is occupational, from the Old English "wealcere", meaning "fuller"- one who stomped on and pressed cloth in a trough in the fulling process. The ancient family motto was NON SINE PERICULO, meaning "Not without danger." The first Walkers recorded were in Yorkshire and Shropshire, England in the 1200's. Taken from a book about family names in England.
