Mountainsides slide into the sea,
Shadows against a pale purple sky,
Daylight is softly creeping away;
The breeze on my cheek is a sigh.

Tall red trees glow along the ridge
In the slanting rays of the falling sun,
Their colors dimming down the slope
To the dark dale where the stream runs.

Then gauzy mist from the valley climbs,
Flowing out over the shimmering bay.
Mantles each tree with a hazy shroud,
And wraps the landscape in twilight gray.
