Gosford Rugby League Football Club

Hey and welcome to my page all about my favourite rugby league club. As you probably would have guessed, it's Gosford. I know it's not a very well known club in Australia but I love it anyway. Why? Because every Sunday I get off my butt for a day and move it to Kariong where I stand at the BBQ collecting tickets off people and asking them if they would like onions with this and would they like BBQ or Tomato sauce with that. It's kinda sad, but every now and then I try to move my sore back and swollen ankles and sit on a bench and watch Ryan Eldridge make a break up the wing or Kurt Hall show off his fancy ball skills and set up a try or Troy Herbert smash some poor unsuspecting bloke to the ground. It's not for every girl I know, but it's something that get's my blood pumping with excitement for a couple of hours every week. It's the whole macho thing that attracts me to it.

Two years ago in 1997, Gosford suprised everyone by coming from 3rd last half way through, to claim 4th position at the end of the season. They played Erina in the Minor Semi finals and beat them in the last for seconds after Erina knocked on from the kick off and we scored. We then played The Entrance in the Final and beat them by a field goal to make it all the way to the Grand Final for the first time in 15 years to play Wyong. Unfortunately they lost (through no fault of their own -the bad referee played a major part) but as usual held a kick ass after party.

Last year they had a pretty good season, finishing in 4th position but unfortunately lost to Erina, but Erina went on to play in the Grand Final against Woy Woy (minor premiers) but lost also. Still Gosford had a pretty great Presentation Night (think Full Monty).

This year unfortunately, Gosford haven't been doing to well. Most put it down to two coaches leaving to Umina along with a whole lot of other players dispersing themselves around the Coast. Gosford have also lost their home ground, Graham Park, to North Sydney, and have moved to Kariong Oval. Although we are yet to win a game, Gosford is a club that has proved to it's loyal supporters that they never give up and will keep on trying till they achieve what they want.
