Sara steared at the screen, his eyes danced in her mind...
As his lips moved his voice filled her ears... but his eyes... oh god his eyes...
Light washed across her face as the film continued. She had lost the story line an hour ago, but could not pull her self away from the movie...
He finished wispering a line to his on screen lover, then kissed her... for an instant, though she new he was acting, she felt jealousy and rage... then softly she ran a finger across her lips, as though tracing his kiss...
It was mad. She was a sensable, mature woman, far beyond her young age. And yet, one look from a man she had never before seen untill that day, and she felt as though he was some one she had known, and loved for a life time.
When the screen went dark it was as though she had been held in mid-air for an hour and now as the light filled the packed theator, she was dropped back to earth.
Slowly she stood, flushed and silently humiliated that he had had that affect on her. She picked up her bag from the seat beside her, then looked in the direction where people had began to run, and point.
From across the room she saw him, he smiled as the camra's flashed, then shyly headed to the exit...
It was him...
She had heard of him before, Who hadn't? He was famouse, for his charm and good looks. She had seen pitcher's of him too, and agreed that he was handsom. But never had she undrestood why her friend's swooned over his movies, and would die to shake his hand. And untill now, she had never known what possesed so many woman to adore him.
Around her people pushed and screamed his name, but she didnt move, just stood watching as he came towards her...
His eyes...oh god his eyes...
She didn't realise he sheared her gaze untill he was only a few feet away from her...
"Come on Johnny... this place is getting out of hand..." A man in his early fourtys said sternly from behind him, as countless arms flew in their direction.
He nodded, not taking his eyes from hers.
"Yeah, okay..." He replied softly, a smile curling on his lips... He saw her blush...
Slowly he turned, looking back to see her gathering her coat. She looked up again and their eyes locked for the second time. Sara's checks burned, as wave after wave of heat coursed through her body. She looked down at her coat drapped over her arm, unable to look at him for fear she might faint.
Just before he walked out the back exit, he turned back again, this time she was lost amoung the crowd...
He ran his hands through his thick dark hair and pulled on his sunglass's as they got out side.
"Hey Frank, Did you see that girl...?" He asked his body gard as they climbed into the limo.
"Which one...?" He asked chuckeling, pointing out at the streets lined with hundreds of woman, screaming and waving as they drove past.
For a moment He didn't replie, "The one who was..." Johnny closed his eyes and saw her face clearly "I dont know how to describe her..." Sighing as he lit a smoke "What the hells my problem...?" He added quietly.
"It wouldnt happen to be the one with the dark brown hair down to her ass, green eyes, and tight blue jeans would it?" The body gard said proudly a moment later.
"Yeah, thats the one, Did you see her?" Johnny asked smiling.
"Yeah I saw her..."
"How did you know she was the one I was talking about?" He asked innocently.
"No reason, just because I had to practically drag you out of that premier once you got a glims of her! Jesus, your usualy the one dragging ME out!" He laughed and grabbed one of Johnnys ciggerets from the packet sitting on the seat beside him.
"She was a dish alright..." He added as he lit it.
"More than that man..." Johnny wispered. "Sounds fucked up I know, but she makes all that love at first sight shit seem possable!" Again he ran his hands through his hair and sighed "I need a drink Frank!" He said after a moment of confused silence from his body gard.
"You need a bloody strong drink Johnny... Love at first sight my ass, she was cute, but you dont know shit about her, for all you know she could be a drug addict or some thing! Forget her man...Besides, look at all these woman, you could have any of them! Why worrie about one you dont know nothing about?" He grined as Johnny lit his second cigerett of the car ride.
"Besides, the rate your going with those smokes, you wouldnt be able to handle her, you'l die of a heart attack before you get you pants down!" Frank laughed at his own joke as Johnny put it out in descust.
"Your all shit Frank..." He said under his breath. "And its not like that man, there was something about her..." As Frank let the lighter fall to his side he laughed again at Johnny.
"Its always 'There's some thing about her' with you aint it Johnny, Winnona, Kate, now this girl! Its been to long my friend, you are getting corney with age!" Johnny smiled and nodded.
"Probable... Ill never see her again anyway so whats the point of thinking about it...?" Franks shrugged.
"Just forget it Johnny. Keep her as a dream, dreams dont nag you, or get shitty at you when you screw up!" He said leaning back into his seat and closing his eyes.
He was right...but still, her face lingered in his mind... In a strange way Johnny felt connected to her, even just from that tiny glance... but he was wrong about one thing, it had been very differn't with both Winnon and Kate, he had never fallen in love at 'first sight' with them, it had been a gradual thing, it had made sence, he could explain why he had fallen so hard for them, this girl he couldn't explain.
"Im going nuts..." He said as they drove through the gates of his house and up the drive way.
Sara unlocked the door and threw the keys on the coffie table.
"Sharon Im back!" She called. A moment later a blond head peared around the corner.
"Ah your home! I thought maybe you were enjoying your night out so much that you would never return!" Her friend said merrily, as her long, taned legs stridded across the small living room and into the ajoing kitchen where Sara was buisily grabbing a snack.
"Well, I thought about it, but desided I better make sure you hadn't sold my son to the Russian's for some frecky experament!" The two laughed as they sat down on the old couch in the middle of the empty living room.
"So tell me," Sharon said after a silence from Sara "How was the pemier?" Sara smiled.
"I have know idea how you got those tickets, the streets were packed full of people, there must have been thousands and only a hundred or so were alowed in the theator!"
"I got them months ago when I first found out about it," Sharon said, twirling a long peice of blond hair around her little finger, remembering the hour she had spent in line with hundreds of others.
"Why in gods name did you give it to me then? I felt terrible for enjoying the movie so much because it should have been you there!"
"You needed the break! And besides, I can get it out on video. Now tell me, was HE there?" Sara new exactly who she was talking about, but hesitated in answering.
"Johnny Depp? Yeah he was there... Yeah, he was defenently there..." She picked nervously at a loose threat on the arm of the couch.
"And?" Sharon asked anxiously "Did you see him?" Silently Sara had desided not to tell Sharon about what happened. How could she explain it any way? She saw him on screen and then he looked at her? That was the way it happened, but at the same time, totally wrong!
"I saw him as he left, but it was pretty nuts, I thought I saw him look at me, but I dont know, I could have imagined it..." Sharon grabed her arm as a huge smile took over her pretty face.
"He looked at you?!" She screamed, still clutching her arm "Like as in 'I want you now' look or 'who the hell are you' look?" Sara laughed at her friends face, she had never seen he so exited.
"Neather realy, it was a long sort of... I dunno... "
"Long? He looked at you for a LONG time? Oh my god!" She screamed again, this time remembering the sleeping baby in the next room, she covered her mouth.
"Well, not a LONG time, not realy... He sorta stopped, because yah know, like he was right in frount of me, and he stopped and just...LOOKED at me..." This time Sharon didn't scream, but instead steared at her.
"He, Johnny Depp, STOPPED?! As in, he's walking, he gets to you, and he....STOPPED!?" Sara nodded.
"Did he say any thing?"
"No, but he smiled," Sharon's eyes widened.
"Johnny Depp?" She nodded again.
"Yeah..."
"Smiled...?"
"Uh huh..."
"At you...?"
"Right..."
"And you didn't scream, pass out, ask for his aughtograph or beg him to take you home with him...?"
"Nope!" At that Sharon leaned back against the arm of the couch, her eyes still wide and her jaw hanging passed her knees, and smiled.
"You have to be joking!" Sara grined.
"Its no big deal..." She lyed.
"No big deal? Have you any idea how many woman would have died to have Johnny Depp SMILE at them! You are like, my god! You have lived my dream! Except right now I would be saying yes to his marrage praposal!" She laughed.
"I wanted to die, I was so embarrassed..." Sara admitted, as she watched Sharon walk into the kichen and pour them both a glass of water.
"If it had been me, I would have gone, 'So, Johnny, fancy showing me how to french kiss?'" Sara giggled.
"I wouldn't put it passed you! But me, I couldn't say a word to him, he's to..."
"Handsom?" Sharon finished for her.
"Yeah, I guess so. He's more than that though he's..."
"Didja get a load of his eyes? hell, I could curl up in those eyes..." She wasn't lisening, so Sara gave up, there was no point telling her about the way she felt when she had seen him, it was silly and childish. Her shame.
"SHIT!" Sharon suddenly shouted looking at her watch, "Oh fuck, Im gunna be late for work! Ill call you later all right?" She called as she ran out the door, "Oh, by the way, can you work for me tomorrow morning?" Smiling Sara nodded.
"Yeah, it can be re-payment for the tickets! And thanks for looking after Sam!" Sharon waved and then was gone with out a replie.
For the first time that night, the apartment was quite.
It was an empty place. Nothing to show realy, but a few chairs, couch, a bed and cribb in her room. But for some reason, because this was her first home in LA, it felt warm, cosie and safe.
Sara flicked off the lights as she headed for the bed room.
"Hey Sam..." She wispered down at her baby as he lay looking up at her, "Cant sleep huh?" She picked him up and stood rocking him in her arms.
"Me neather..." Quietly she walked over to the huge window that looked out from her third storie apartment.
The lights of the city calmed her for some reason. Amoung those building, and along those streets, lived hundred's of homless people that most feared. But Sara didn't. She had lived their life when she first came here. She had lived like them till days before she had Sam, that was when she meet Sharon. She had helped get her a job where she worked, and let her stay at her apartment. Ever since then they had been best friends.
Sam was not a mistake, she would never call him that. But he defenently hadn't been planned. Sara had moved from New York, and away from an abusive family, to start a new, better life, but all she found in LA was line after line of brocken dreams and promise's. James was sappost to be her saviour, he had told her he would love her and look after her forever, but as soon as she got pregnent she was alone to deal with it her self...
"Never again aye Samie..." She wispered into his soft blond hair, "We have each other now...and you know I will never leave you..." Walking back to his cribb she lay him down, and pulled a thin blanket over his little body.
She stood over him for a moment, watching as he slept peacfully, blisfully un-awear his father didn't even know he was alive.
Finely Sara crawled into her own bed, and curled under the covers.
Her mind had strayed to other things that night, but always did his face linger... She couldn't shake the feeling of longing... the feeling that she wanted to be held... by him... and as hard as she tryed, he remained...
She clutched the pillow against her, wishing it was him, wishing she could hear his heart beat, or feel him kiss her and make all the things she feared disapear forever...
It was so mad and stupid. Mad, because it would never happen, and stupid because she new so many others lay in bed dreaming of the same man, and being just one of them made her feel smaller, and more insignificant than ever before.
Frustraited, Sara threw the pillow across the room, and rolled over as it hit the door and fell to the ground.
She held her eyes shut tight, trying to ignor his image. Finelly, after hours of tossing and turning, Sara fell asleep...
