Summer InternshipThis summer from June 3rd until August 14th (2000), I had the opportunity to participate in an internship in Marion, Illinois. There were two other interns(Jon, and Jennifer) along with myself. Throughout the summer we had different responsibilities to look after that were ministry related. I had the chance to help lead a basketball camp, be a Youth Camp Counsoler (go Scuba Steve Superstars!), teach a seminar and Sunday School, play alot of knockout, go to the DC/LA conference, and meet a ton of great students and adults. My time at Aldersgate United Methodist Church was awesome. Hal Hamilton (youth pastor) has the internship set up so that the interns have the best opportunity to learn while they are there. DC/LA
In July we had the opportunity to attend the DC/LA Youth Evangelism SuperConference in Washington DC. We left on a Sunday and toured the city for the first two or three days. On Weds. afternoon the conference started. It was attended by 20,000 youth!! We had the chance to hear great speakers such as Duffy Robbins and Laurie Solierno. We also saw such musical acts as Out of Eden(Pictured), Jars of Clay, Supertones, Jennifer Knapp, and the list goes on! |
Touring our Nations Capital
When we arrived in DC, we toured the city from Monday until Weds. afternoon. We stopped at the Capital Building, Washington Monument, Vietnam Wall, Lincoln Memorial, The Smithsonian, and the Haulocaust Musuem. All of these had an impact one way or another on us. It was interesting to see "In God We Trust" on all the monuments in DC, giving recognition to the ONE under who our nation was founded!! |

Duing my internship in Marion, I had the blessing of staying with the Youth Pastor, Hal, and his family. He and his wife have 5 kids, Rebekah, Hannah, Caleb, Maranatha, and David. It was a lot of fun spending the summer at their house. Pictured is Hannah and Caleb. |
