Grant County coach Shawn West started the following lineup: 5-9 Jr. Shelby Gutman, 5-10 Sr. Madisyn Ruebusch, 6-1 Jr. Lindsey Kinard, 5-5 So. Bryann Ezell, and 5-6 Fr. Abby West.  Lexington Catholic coach Scott True countered with 5-7 So. Maylo Given, 5-5 Jr. Ashley Frebis, 5-9 Jr. Maya Jazdzewski, 5-1 Jr. Olivia Haines, and 5-3 So. Jay Ballard.

 

Grant County led 40-21 in the third quarter but had to withstand an offensive onslaught by LexCath’s Jay Ballard (38 points) to earn a 60-54 victory.  Grant County shot 51.4% from the field including nine of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Braves connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 16 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 41.9% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Grant County turnovers.

 

Bryan Ezell led Grant County with 18 points including four three point baskets and four rebounds.  Madisyn Ruebusch added 13 points including seven of eight free throws and four rebounds.  Abby West recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.  Lindsey Kinard chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds.

 

Jay Ballard led Lexington Catholic with 38 points including five three point baskets.  Ballard was 13 of 18 from the field including five of seven from the three point line, and seven of nine free throws.  Maylo Given added eight points and five rebounds.

Paul Laurence Dunbar led 42-24 in the third quarter but had to withstand a furious rally by Lexington Christian Academy fueled by the torrid outside shooting of Nathan Harper to eke out a 66-64 victory.  Dunbar shot 40% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 24 of 33 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 43.6% from the field including 10 of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Dunbar turnovers.

 

Taveion Hollingsworth led Dunbar with 28 points including eight of eight free throws, 15 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Javea Richardson added 16 points including seven of seven free throws.  Star Ifeacho recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, three blocked shots, and three steals.

 

Nathan Harper led LCA with 29 points including six three point baskets, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Carter Hendrickson added 16 points including two three point baskets.  Kyle Rode recorded eight points, three rebounds, and eight assists.

Lorenzo Williams, and 6-1 So Bryce Long.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Jr. Zan Payne, 6-3 Jr. TC Price, 6-7 Sr. Peter Whitman, 5-11 Sr. Blake Scott, and 6-3 Sr. Luke Johnson.

 

Lexington Catholic defeated Scott County 59-55 in the latest chapter in the long string of battles between these two traditional basketball rivals.  The score was tied six times and there were 14 lead changes in this battle.  Lexington Catholic shot 35.7% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 14 of 17 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 33.3% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Luke Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 23 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, and four steals.  Zan Payne added 13 points and seventeen rebounds.  TC Price chipped in with nine points and Peter Whitman recorded eight points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.

 

Michael Moreno led Scott County with 18 points including two three point baskets, 14 rebounds, four assists, and five blocked shots.  Cooper Robb added 17 points including two three point baskets, six rebounds, and five steals.  Bryce Long chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.

Scott County led 48-44 at halftime but outscored North Laurel 48-11 in the second half to earn a 96-55 victory.  Scott County shot 52.4% from the field including five of 27 from the three point line.  Scott County attempted 28 more shots (82-54) from the field than North Laurel.  The Lady Cardinals connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 30 points off 25 North Laurel turnovers.  North Laurel shot 37% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Jaguars connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Scott County turnovers. 

 

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 30 points including four three point baskets, four assists, and five steals.  Peyton Riddle added 28 points, nine rebounds, and six steals.  Maaliya Owens recorded 12 points, 10 rebounds, and six steals.  Lauren Boehm added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
