Dixie Heights coach Ken Chevalier started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Juwan Evans, 6-0 Sr. Jordan Hassel, 6-5 Sr. Parker Stansberry, 6-1 So. Joe Fox, and 6-2 So. Brandon Hatton.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-6 Sr. Patrick Keller, 6-5 Sr. Craig Floyd, 6-9 Jr. Jack Whitman, 5-10 Jr. Dillon Avare, and 5-10 Sr. Bryan Woomer.

Lexington Catholic led 61-54 with 2:39 left in the game but Dixie Heights pressing defense allowed the Colonels to finish the game with a 13-0 run and capture a 67-61 victory over Lexington Catholic.  Dixie Heights shot 41.4% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 14 of 16 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 18 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 41.1% from the field including seven of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 10 Dixie Heights turnovers.

Jordan Hassel led Dixie Heights with 14 points and seven rebounds.  Brandon Hatton also recorded 14 points and dished out seven assists.  Parker Stansberry recorded 12 points.  Juwan Evans, Joe Fox, and 5-11 Sr. Paul Wigger each scored nine points.

Jack Whitman had a ‘monster” game for Lexington Catholic with 23 points and 20 rebounds.  Craig Floyd and Patrick Keller with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Franklin County Scott Chalk started the following lineup; 6-3 So. Chris Roberts, 6-3 Jr. Logan Woodside, 6-5 Sr. Garrett Hamilton, 6-3 Sr. Eric Meyer, and 5-11 Jr. Ryan Timmons.  Woodford County coach Scott Hundley countered with 6-4 Sr. Addison Hollin, 6-2 Sr. William Starcher, 6-4 Sr. David Greenwell, 5-10 So. Eli Boggess, and 6-1 Sr. Rodney Gross.

Franklin County eked out a 58-56 victory over Woodford County tonight.  Woodford County led 28-16 in the second quarter but Franklin County rallied to cut the deficit to five; 33-28 at halftime.  The third quarter was all Franklin County as they outscored Woodford County 18-9 to take a 46-42 lead entering the final quarter.  There were four ties and three lead changes between these two evely matched opponents.

Franklin County shot 54.3% from the field including zero of four from the three point line.  The Flyers connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Woodford County turnovers.  Woodford County shot 567.8% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Jackets connected on 10 of 19 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored six points off 13 Franklin County turnovers.

Garrett Hamilton led Franklin County with 18 points.  Chris Roberts added 12 points and six rebounds.  Ryan Timmons also reached double figures with 10 points.

Rodney Gross led Woodford County with 16 points.  Gross was five of six from the field including one of one from the three point line and five of seven from the free throw line.  6-2 Jr. Landon Young and David Greenwell added 11 and nine points respectively.  Addison Hollin and Eli Boggess each recorded eight points and Hollin pulled down nine rebounds.

Run-and Shoot-Classic December 10, 2011

The inaugural Allgood Hoops/Fern Valley Hotel RUN-N-SHOOT Classic featured one of the nation’s top 5 teams (Clarksville, TN) and one of the country’s top 5 players in Bashaara Graves (Clarksville, TN)

and both team and player put on quite a show for the fans at Louisville Male H.S., KY, on December 10th.   Clarksville (TN) defeated Scott County (KY) by a score of 102 to 43 with Graves scoring 31 points and hauling in 28 rebounds.  Graves who has signed with Tennessee will easily be a McDonald’s All-American this season.  Eight teams representing three states participated.  Below were the top college prospects for the event which was directed by Jeff Allgood of Allgood Hoops.

Tates Creek utilized a balanced attack and a hot hand from the field (63.6%) to defeat Bryan Station by a score of 60-48.  Tates Creek shot 63.6% from the field including three of six from the three point line.  The Commodores connected on 15 of 32 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 Bryan Station turnovers.  Bryan Station shot 34% from the field including three of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Defenders connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 16 Tates Creek turnovers.

Braxton McFarland led Tates Creek with 15 points.  Jordan Fucci added 14 points and eight rebounds.  Darius Gibson chipped in with 11 points and four assists.  Vincent Mattox also reached double figures with 10 points.

Christine Roush led Mercy with 17 points.  Whitney Hartlage added 15 points including 10 of 10 free throws and pulled down nine rebounds.  Courtney Roush recorded nine points and seven rebounds.

Lexington Catholic led 16-14 at halftime and broke open the game with a 25-6 advantage in the third quarter on their way to a 60-34 victory over Lexington Christian Academy.  Lexington Catholic shot 37.3% from the field including eight of 28 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 25 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 41.4% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored four points off three Lexington Catholic turnovers.  LCA only attempted 29 shots from the field compared to 59 for Lexington Catholic.

Elizabeth Walton led Lexington Catholic with 16 points including four three point baskets and pulled down six rebounds.  Octavia Wilson added 11 points.  5-9 Fr. Rachel Blake and 5-5 Fr. Tori Pippen each recorded eight points.

Kristen Jacob led LCAwith 13 points and 12 rebounds.  Katelin Bundy added seven rebounds and Kristin Rinehart pulled down nine rebounds.

Highlands captured a 47-45 decision over Sacred Heart tonight.  Jesse Daley hit a layup with 2:08 left in the game for what proved to be the winning basket.  Sacred Heart had one last opportunity but a three point attempt at the buzzer was off target.  Highlands shot 44.2% from the field including two of six from the three point line.  The Bluebirds connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 26 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Sacred Heart shot 37.5% from the field including six of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on three of seven free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 23 Highlands turnovers.

Whitney Hartlage led Mercy with 21 points including three three point baskets.  Christine Roush added 11 points and nine steals.  5-8 Jr. Caroline Keck recorded nine points.

Alex Botkin led Lexington Catholic with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and four steals.  5-9 Fr. Rachel Blake added 13 points and six rebounds.  Bonnie Rhule chipped in with 10 points including two three point baskets.
