Anderson County vs. George Rogers Clark

George Rogers Clark High School
Winchester, KY
August 30, 2013

© 2013 by Ron Harrison

Anderson County scored an impressive 50-21 victory over George Rogers Clark in a game that had a scary moment in the first half when GRC QB Luke Sharrock suffered an injury.  Late in the half Sharrock suffered a hard hit that in old football lingo “rung his bell” and was taken from the field on a stretcher.  Sharrock was transported to the Clark Regional Medical Center as a precaution.  The second string QB Lloyd Campbell was unavailable to play because of illness.  Anderson County recorded 21 first downs and 430 yards of total offense.  The Bearcats were penalized seven times for 65 yards, lost three fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.  GRC recorded 10 first downs and 328 yards of total offense.  The Cardinals were penalized 10 times for 106 yards, lost a fumble, and had three passes intercepted.

Ryan Martin led Anderson County’s ground game with 76 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.  Z. Carmichael carried the ball 11 times for 61 yards and two touchdowns.  Chris Toomey recoded 50 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.  Z. Carmichael completed 11 of 20 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  Ross Cox caught three passes for 92 yards and a touchdown.  Brayden Russell added three receptions for 64 yards.  Blake Trimble led the defense with five solo and one assisted tackles with one interception.  Landon Searcy added four solo tackles.  Brayden Russell and Ross Cox also added an interception each.

Logan Burchett led George Rogers Clark’s ground attack with 87 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.  Luke Sharrock completed four of 13 passes for 78 yards with three interceptions.  Brent Stoneking completed two of five passes for 100 yards and one touchdown.  Brent Stoneking caught two passes for 66 yards.  Luke Sharrock caught a 77 yard touchdown pass.  Chris Schochler led the defense with eight solo tackles.  Quinn Cornelius added five solo tackles.  Steven Davis, Shawn Wilhite, and Micah Benevides each recovered a fumble.
