Eastern coach Jason Couch started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Lyonell Gaines, 6-4 Sr. Arman Marks, 6-8 Sr. Kameron Woods, 5-11 Sr. Byron Sanford, and 6-4 Sr. Remy Abell. Scott County coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-4 Jr. Tamron Manning, 6-2 Jr. Isaiah Ivey, 6-4 Sr. Tanner Shotwell, 5-10 So. Quin Richardson, and 6-1 Jr. Josh Harris.
Eastern hit their free throws down the stretch to hold off a determined Scott County squad by a score of 66-60. There were nine lead changes and seven ties in the game. Eastern shot 44.9% from the field including two of eight from the three point line. The Eagles connected on 20 of 22 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored six points off 12 Scott County turnovers. Scott County shot 36.9% from the field including six of 15 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 21 Eastern turnovers.
Lyonell Gaines led Eastern with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Gaines also had an excellent defensive effort against Scott County’s Tamron Manning. Remy Abell and Byron Sanford added 15 and 10 points respectively. Kameron Woods pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked three shots.
Tanner Shotwell and Isaiah Ivey led Scott County with 15 points each. 5-11 Fr. Trent Gilbert added 13 points including three three point baskets. Tamron Manning recorded eight points and nine rebounds.
