Ballard  (30-4)  vs.  Warren Central  (23-8)  (Quarterfinal)

Ian Chiles banked in a three point shot at the buzzer to give Ballard a 62-59 victory over Warren Central.  Ballard led 47-33 after three quarters but Warren Central mounted a comeback aided by several missed free throws by Ballard down the stretch.  The Dragons finally tied the game at 59-59 on a basket by George Fant with five seconds remaining on the clock setting the stage for Chiles’ game winning basket.

Ballard shot 37.5% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Bruins connected on 15 of 28 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 18 Warren Central turnovers.  Warren Central shot 45.5% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Dragons connected on 17 of 30 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 Ballard turnovers.

6-1 Sr. Ian Chiles led Ballard with 23 points including five three point baskets.  5-11 Sr. Tyrell Means added 11 points.

6-1 Sr. Troy Halcomb led Warren Central with 18 points.  6-7 Jr. George Fant added 15 points and eight rebounds.  6-0 Jr. Jordan Shanklin chipped in with 10 points.  6-3 Sr. Shamarcus Wells pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Scott County  (28-6)  vs.  Christian County  (30-4)  (Quarterfinal)

Scott County rallied from a 54-49 deficit in the final quarter to defeat Christian County by a score of 69-64.  Dakotah Euton, Ge-Lawn Guyn, Tanner Shotwell, and Tamron Manning all fouled out for Scott County with several of the fouls coming trying to stop penetration by jet-quick Anthony Hickey.  Chad Jackson proved to also be impossible to stop from getting to the rim for the victorious Cardinals.

Scott County shot 54% from the field including three of six from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored six points off seven Christian County turnovers.  Christian County shot 40.4% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 23 of 35 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Scott County turnovers.

6-4 Sr. Chad Jackson led Scott County with 26 points and 11 rebounds.  Jackson was 10 of 11 from the field and six of 11 from the free throw line.  6-8 Sr. Dakotah Euton added 12 points and nine rebounds.  6-3 Sr. Austin Flannery chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Ge-Lawn Guyn also reached double figures with 10 points.

5-10 Jr. Anthony Hickey led Christian County with 26 points.  5-10 Sr. Trey Gale and 6-5 Jr. Donovan Kates added nine and eight points respectively.

Shelby Valley trailed 26-24 at halftime but rallied after the intermission to defeat West Jessamint by a score of 67-54.  Shelby Valley shot 42.9% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on 19 of 25 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 14 points off eight West Jessamine turnovers.  West Jessamine shot 39.2% from the field including eight of 25 from beyond the arc.  The Colts connected on six of nine free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored five points off five Shelby Valley turnovers.

5-10 Sr. Elisha Justice led Shelby Valley with 28 points including three three point baskets.  6-3 Sr. Taylor Newsome added 16 points and eight rebounds.  6-6 Sr. Ashley Hatfield recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.

6-3 Sr. Jarrod Polson led West Jessamine with 25 points including four three point baskets and pulled down seven rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Gus Sherrow and 6-4 Jr. Dylan Pohl added nine and eight points respectively.

Mason County trailed 24-19 at halftime but rallied for a 58-47 victory over Butler.  Mason County shot 41.3% including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Royals connected on 17 of 25 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 14 Butler turnovers.  Butler shot 45.9% from the field including one of sevem from beyond the arc.  The Bears connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 10 Mason County turnovers.

6-2 So. Tyler Black led Mason County with 18 points.  5-10 Jr. Jordan Gilbert and 6-3 Jr. Neal Pawsat added 10 points each.

6-1 Sr. Darius Stone led Butler with 12 points and seven rebounds.  5-7 So. Jalen Wesson added nine points.

Muhlenberg County  (20-10)  vs.  West Jessamine  (26-7)

West Jessamine only led 64-62 late in the game but closed out the game with a 9-1 run to earn a 73-63 victory over Muhlenberg County.  West Jessamine led 53-41 after three quarters but Muhlenberg County rallied to make it interesting down the stretch.

West Jessamine shot 59% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Colts connected on 23 of 40 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 11 Muhlenberg County turnovers.  Muhlenberg County shot 36.1% from the field including five of 30 from beyond the arc.  The Mustangs connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 10 West Jessamine turnovers.  Muhlenberg County attempted 22 more shots from the field (61-39) than West Jessamine.

6-3 Sr. Jarrod Polson led West Jessamine with 32 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Polson was 10 of 13 from the field and 12 of 20 from the free throw line.  6-2 Sr. David Elliott added 13 points and seven rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Gus Sherrow chipped in with 10 points.

Shelby Valley easily defeated Paducah Tilghman by a score of 68-45.  Shelby Valley shot 50% from the field including seven of 19 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 19 Paducah Tilghman turnovers.  Paducah Tilghman shot 36.4% from the field including two of 10 from beyond the arc.  Paducah Tilghman connected on three of seven free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds and scored 13 points off 12 Shelby Valley turnovers.

6-3 Sr. Taylor Newsome led Shelby Valley with 22 points and seven rebounds.  Newsome was 10 of 13 from the field including one of one from the three point line and one of two from the free throw line.  5-10 Sr. Elisha Justice added 21 points including three three point baskets and dished out nine assists and pulled down six rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Tyler Newsome chipped in with 15 points including three three point baskets.

6-4 Jr. Josh Forrest led Paducah Tilghman with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  6-0 Sr. Johny Harmon added 10 points.

Jordan Gilbert hit a runner in the lane with approximately four seconds left in overtime to give Mason County a 58-56 victory over North Hardin.  Mason County led 17-7 after the first quarter but North Hardin rallied to force overtime.

Mason County shot 36.8% from the field including only one of 12 from the three point line.  The Royals connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 North Hardin turnovers.  North Hardin shot 41.7% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Trojans connected on 13 of 22 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Mason County turnovers.

5-10 Jr. Jordan Gilbert, 6-2 Sr. Bradley Lang, and 5-10 sr. Justin Lang led Mason County with 12, 12, and 10 points respectively.  6-5 Sr. Rheuben Bluford added nine points and 14 rebounds.

6-4 Sr. James Berry led North Hardin with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  6-5 Sr. Nigel Phelps added 15 points.

Knott County Central could not get their long range shots to fall tonight and was defeated 57-46 by Butler.  Butler led 30-17 at halftime but Knott County Central rallied to only trail 36-35 entering the final quarter.  However Butler pulled away for good in the final period.

Butler shot 49 % from the game including three of 11 from the three point line.  The Bears connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Knott County Central turnovers.  Knott County Central shot 32.1% from the field including four of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored four points off nine Butler turnovers.

6-1 Sr. Thomas Blakemore led Butler with 17 points.  6-0 Jr. Demetrius Butler and 5-11 Fr. Demetrius McReynolds added 13 and 11 points respectively.  6-1 Sr. Darius Stone pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

6-1 Sr. Stuart Stamper led Knott County Central with 10 points including two three point baskets.  6-4 Jr. Mikey Slone, 6-1 Sr. Tate Cox, and 6-2 So. Zack Davis added nine, eight, and seven points respectively.  Davis also pulled down 10 rebounds.

Warren Central outscored East Carter 22-2 in the third quarter on their way to a 55-36 victory.  East Carter took a 13-4 lead in the first quarter but Warren Central rallied to only trail by one point; 21-20 at halftime.  Warren Central held East Carter to 18.5% from the field in the second half and outscored the Raiders 35-15.

Warren Central shot 55.6% from the field including four of seven from the three point line.  The Dragons connected on 11 of 22 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 16 East Carter turnovers.  East Carter shot 33.3% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Raiders connected on five of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored seven points off 15 Warren Central turnovers.

6-0 Jr. Jordan Shanklin led Warren Central with 16 points including two three point baskets.  6-3 Sr. Shamarcus Wells and 6-1 Sr. Troy Halcomb added 11 and nine points respectively.

Ballard finally pulled away in the final two minutes to defeat Shelby County 90-80 in a thrilling “wild west shootout”.  Shelby County was forced to foul late in the game and lost three starters; Donovan Johnson, Cache Tomlinson, and Norris Beckley Jr. due to fouls.

Ballard shot 45.9% from the field including nine of 26 from the three point line.  The Bruins connected on 25 of 35 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 20 Shelby County turnovers.  Shelby County shot 43.5% from the field including 12 of 30 from beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Ballard turnovers.

6-3 Sr. Keisten Jones led Ballard with 30 points including five three point baskets and connected on nine of 10 free throws.  6-1 Sr. Ian Chiles added 19 points including two three point baskets.  6-3 Jr. Devante Parker chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds.

6-8 Sr. Dakotah Euton led Scott County with 21 points and seven rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Chad Jackson added 13 points and seven rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Ge-Lawn Guyn chipped in with 12 points.  6-4 Jr. Tanner Shotwell came off the bench to add eight points and five rebounds.

Mercy outscored Scott County 20-13 in the third quarter on their way to a 71-61 victory.  Mercy shot 34.8% from the field including two of 14 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 23 of 26 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 19 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 40% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 Mercy turnovers.

Mercy scored 32 points off 30 Rowan County turnovers in a 53-45 victory over Rowan County.  Mercy shot 35.4% from the field including one of nine from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 18 of 21 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and held a 10-3 advantage in bench scoring.  Rowan County shot 38.5% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Vikings connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 15 Mercy turnovers.

5-9 Sr. Ellen Sholtes led Mercy with 22 points and six steals.  5-9 Sr. Therese Montano added seven points and five steals.  5-8 Sr. Malisa Cruz recorded six points and eight rebounds.

Mercy Academy pulled away in the second half to defeat Henderson County by a score of 71-57.  Mercy shot 47.7% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 26 of 39 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored seven points off 14 Henderson County turnovers.  Henderson County shot 32.3% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Mercy turnovers.

Scott County defeated Boone County 67-66 in an overtime thriller.  Boone County’s Sydney Moss hit a late three pointer in regulation to tie the score and send the game to overtime.  Kristen Stainback nailed a long range three pointer with four seconds remaining in overtime to give Scott County the victory.

Scott County shot 45.6% from the field including three of five from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Boone County turnovers.  Boone County shot 41.8% from the field including seven of 30 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on three of six free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Scott County turnovers.

LTMS coaches Nimbo Hammonds, Tyrone Johnson, and Reid Brown started the following lineup:  Tykie Tyler, Teddy Ware, Jordan Green, Donnie Lewis, and Charles “Snoop” Johnson.  Beaumont coaches Browning, Payne, and Rose countered with Vince Davis, Jordan Hurst, Shon Wright, Isaiah Olige, and Conner McHugh..

LTMS pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Beaumont 50-34 to claim the championship.  LTMS shot 44.2% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Blackcats connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 22 Beaumont turnovers.  Beaumont shot 36.4% from the field including three of six from beyond the arc.  The Colts connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 LTMS turnovers.

Charles “Snoop” Johnson led the victors with 23 points and six rebounds.  Johnson was 10 of 15 from the field including one of three from the three point line and two of five from the free throw line.  Johnson was virtually impossible to defend with his slashing moves to the basket.  Teddy Ware added 10 points including two three point baskets.  Jordan Green pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Shon wright led Beaumont with nine points.  Conner McHugh added eight points including two three point baskets.Vince Davis chipped in with six points and seven rebounds.

Scott County jumped out to a 21-6 first quarter lead and played well the entire game in a 76-50 victory over a good Lafayette squad.  Scott County’s defense was impressive tonight as they scored 29 points off 21 Lafayette turnovers and recorded 14 steals and seven blocked shots.

Scott County shot 49.2% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 13 of 20 free throws and  pulled down 39 rebounds.  Lafayette shot 36.5% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off 15 Scott County turnovers.
