Tates Creek coach Jarrod Gay Sr. started the following lineup: 6-5 So. James McKenzie, 6-3 Sr. Jaheim Mullins, 6-5 Sr. Deonte Edmonds, 5-10 Jr. Clon Townsend, and 6-2 Jr. Amari Taylor.  Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III countered with 5-10 Sr. Evan Dreux, 6-2 Sr. Javen Harden, 6-9 Jr. Ray Surratt, 5-5 So. Daniel Kinley, and 5-8 Sr. Caleb True.

 

Lafayette raced out to a 17-4 first quarter but needed a Ray Surratt put back basket with two seconds remaining on the clock to earn a 51-49 victory over Tates Creek.  There were two lead changes and six ties in this game.  Lafayette shot 38% from the field including three of 16 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 14 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 45.2% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Commodores connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 15 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Ray Surratt led Lafayette with 24 points, 14 rebounds, three blocked shots, and two steals.  Javen Harden added nine points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Caleb True recorded seven points and five rebounds.

 

Amari Taylor led Tates Creek with 14 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, and four assists.  Clon Townsend added 11 points.  Jaheim Mullins recorded seven points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Deonte Edmonds chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.
