Menifee County vs. Boyd County (Girls)

Savannah Wheeler broke her own school record by scoring 48 points tonight in an 85-72 victory over Menifee County.  Boyd County countered Menifee County’s size advantage (6-2 Emma Hacker and 6-1 Kelsey Woodard) with a tenacious pressure defense which resulted in Boyd County outscoring Menifee County 31-12 in the second quarter to gain control of the game.  Boyd County increased their led to 26 points in the third quarter but Menifee County went on a 16-0 run to keep the game reasonably close.

 

Boyd County shot 38.2% from the field including nine of 28 from the three point line.  The Lady Lions connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.  Menifee County shot 53.2% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 18 of 23 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and committed 35 turnovers.

 

5-6 Sr. Savannah Wheeler led Boyd County with 48 points including five three point baskets and eight rebounds.  5-7 So. Harley Paynter added 15 points.  5-4 Jr. Graci Opell recorded 13 points including  three three point baskets and four rebounds.  5-7 Sr. Graci Borders added six points and 13 rebounds.

 

6-2 Sr. Emma Hacker led Menifee County with 31 points including 10 of 11 free throws and 14 rebounds.  6-1 So. Kelsey Woodard added 17 points and 12 rebounds.
