Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Nick Runyon started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Cheyenne Fullwood, 5-8 Sr. Peyton Humphreys, 6-0 Fr. Elise Ellison-Coons, 5-6 Sr. Mashayla Cecil, and 5-7 Sr. Anaiyah Cotton.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-10 Jr. Lindi DeBilzan, 5-8 Sr. Caroline Bennett, 5-10 Sr. Tekiya Garr-Carter, 5-7 Sr. Terri Abram, and 5-8 Fr. Rylie Grantz. 

 

Paul Laurence Dunbar utilized the offensive firepower of Mashayla Cecil (26 points) and an effective box-and-chaser defense on Caroline Bennett to hold the sharpshooter to five points on their way to a 65-56 victory.  There were two lead changes and six ties in this game.  Dunbar shot 39.6% from the field including two of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on 25 of 31 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 40.4% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Generals connected on 17 of 29 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Dunbar turnovers.

 

Mashayla Cecil led Dunbar with 26 points including 11 of 11 free throws, six rebounds, and two steals.  Elise Ellison-Coons added 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Peyton Humphreys recorded 10 points and four assists.  Mashayla Cecil was named tournament MVP.

 

Terri Abram led Lafayette with 18 points and three assists.  Lindi DeBilzan added 16 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.  Tekiya Garr-Carter recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.
