Madison Central vs. Henry Clay (Girls)

Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-7 Sr. Blaze Pacheco, 5-7 So. Taleya Todd, 5-10 So. Je’Kauri McKeithen, 5-6 Sr. Bailey Vanover, and 5-6 Jr. Madison Barnard.  Henry Clay coach Eric Sanford countered with 5-8 Sr. Braxton Price, 5-8 Sr. Cheyenne Jones, 5-8 Jr. Christian Gatewood, 5-4 Sr. Alexis Lutz, and 5-7 Jr. Kiya Thompson.

 

The score was tied 17-17 at halftime but Henry Clay pulled away in the second half to earn a 44-27 victory over Madison Central.  Madison Central only connected on one field goal in 11 attempts in the second half.  Henry Clay shot 25.9% from the field including five of 22 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 22 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 21.9% from the field including one of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on 12 of 24 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored one point off 10 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Kiya Thompson led Henry Clay with eight points and seven rebounds.  Braxton Price added eight points, four rebounds, and three steals.  Alexis Lutz recorded seven points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Cheyenne Jones added four points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.

 

Bailey Vanover led Madison Central with 12 points and six rebounds.  Madison Barnard added nine points and four rebounds.  Je’Kauri McKeithen recorded five points and 16 rebounds.
