Covington Catholic continues their domination this season as they defeated Madison Southern 49-13 to finish the season with a 15-0 record.  Madison Southern trailed 20-13 in the second quarter but Covington Catholic scored 29 unanswered points to decide the game.  Madison Southern amassed 341 yards but was unable to stop Covington Catholic’s high octane air game as the Colonels threw for 337 yards and three touchdowns.  AJ Mayer also ran for three touchdowns today.

Covington Catholic recorded 18 first downs and 476 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized five times for 50 yards and had one pass intercepted.  Madison Southern recorded 18 first downs and 341 yards of total offense.  The Eagles were penalized eight times for 82 yards and had two passes intercepted.

AJ Mayer led Covington Catholic’s ground game with 71 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries.  Casey McGinness carried the ball nine times for 50 yards.  AJ Mayer completed 11 of 15 passes for 337 yards and three touchdowns.  Luke Lenihan caught four passes for 101 yards and a touchdown.  Casey McGinness added three receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns.  Michael Mayer added two receptions for 34 yards.  Malachi Pike caught one pass for 49 yards.  Kameron Butler led the defense with 10 solo and three assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling six yards.  Michael Mayer added eight solo and two assisted tackles.  Andrew Shelton recorded six solo tackles and intercepted a pass.  Luke Lenihan also intercepted a pass.

Landen Stacy led Madison Southern’s ground game with 131 yards on 24 carries.  Carter Smith carried the ball 16 times for 91 yards.  6-3 295 pound lineman Trey Livingood often lines up in the backfield on short yardage players around the goal line and carried the ball twice for five yards and two touchdowns.  Landen Stacy completed 11 of 20 passes for 111 yards with two interceptions.  Hunter Richardson caught five passes for 63 yards.  Carter Smith added four receptions for 27 yards.  Noah Hughes returned three kickoffs for 57 yards with a long return of 22 yards.  Jordan Casteel led the defense with four solo and three assisted tackles and intercepted a pass.  Carter Smith added three solo and four assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling eight yards.  Nathaniel Eads recorded three solo and three assisted tackles.
