Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Abby Wright, 5-11 Fr. Bria Bass, 6-2 Jr. Madison Pierce, 5-8 Jr. A’Queen Hayes, and 5-8 So. Shay Solomon. Cincinnati coach Jamelle Elliott countered with 6-0 Sr. Shanice Johnson, 5-10 Fr. Michaela Porter, 6-1 So. Angel Rizor, 5-6 Sr. Ana Owens, and 5-8 Jr. Nikira Goings.
Cincinnati outscored Eastern Kentucky 21-5 in the second quarter on their way to a 64-53 victory. Cincinnati shot 47.2% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line. They connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 13 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Cincinnati held a 23-0 advantage in bench scoring. Eastern Kentucky shot 40% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on three of seven free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off nine Cincinnati turnovers.
Shanice Johnson led Cincinnati with 15 points including two three point baskets and six assists. 5-11 Fr. Iimar’i Thomas added 14 points and five rebounds. Ana Owens chipped in with 11 points.
Bria Bass led Eastern Kentucky University with 22 points including five three point baskets. Shay Solomon added 14 points and 12 rebounds. A’Queen Hayes recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
