Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Zach Charles, 6-6 Fr. Marlon Adams, 6-9 So. Nick Mayo, 5-11 Fr., Asante Gist and 6-2 Sr. Isaac McGlone. Manhattan coach Steve Massiello countered with 6-9 Jr. Zane Waterman, 6-4 Jr. Samson Usilo, 6-10 Jr. Zavier Peart, 5-9 Jr. Xavier Turner, and 6-0 So. Thomas Capuano.
Eastern Kentucky led 30-28 at halftime but Manhattan shot a blistering 68% from the field in the second half to pull away for an 81-54 victory. Manhattan shot 54.5% from the field including seven of 18 from the three point line. The Jaspers connected on 26 of 30 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 17 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 37.2% from the field including five of 17 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Manhattan turnovers.
6-8 Jr. Calvin Crawford led Manhattan with 19 points. 6-2 Fr. Aaron Walker Jr. added 12 points and six assists. 6-0 Fr. Na’Quan Council recorded 12 points, five assists, and five steals. Zane Waterman chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.
Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky University with 14 points and nine rebounds. Asante Gist added nine points. Isaac McGlone chipped in with eight points and four assists.
