Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Zach Charles, 6-2 Sr. Isaac McGlone, 6-9 So. Nick Mayo, 5-11 Fr. Asante Gist, and 6-0 Jr. Dillon Avare.  Louisville coach Rick Pitino countered with 6-7 So. Deng Adel, 6-9 Jr. Jaylen Johnson, 6-10 Sr. Mangok Mathiang, 6-2 Jr. Quentin Snider, and 6-3 So. Donovan Mitchell.

 

Louisville utilized their size, depth, and athleticism to defeat Eastern Kentucky by a score of 87-56.  Louisville shot 48.4% from the field including 10 of 24 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 17 of 21 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 17 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Louisville held a 42-17 advantage in bench scoring.  Eastern Kentucky shot 35.6% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on eight of 15 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Louisville turnovers.

 

Donovan Mitchell led Louisville with 15 points and seven rebounds.  Quentin Snider added 13 points including three three point baskets and six assists.  Jaylen Johnson recorded 10 points and seven rebounds.  6-1 Gr. Tony Hicks also reached double digits with 10 points.  Mangok Mathiang pulled down 13 rebounds, dished out four assists, and blocked two shots.  6-10 So. Ray Spalding added eight points, five rebounds, and four blocked shots.

 

Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Asante Gist added 12 points.  6-6 Fr. Marlon Adams reached double figures with 10 points.  6-5 Fr. DeAndre Dishman pulled down eight rebounds.
