Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 So. Zan Payne, 6-3 Sr. JJ Ogbogu, 6-6 Jr. Peter Whitman, 5-11 Sr. Donovan Morris, and 6-4 Jr. Luke Johnson.  Tates Creek coach Michael Allen countered with 6-3 Jr. Robert Gardner, 6-2 Jr. Decotah Fay, 6-4 Jr. Isaiah Patterson, 6-0 Fr. Isaiah Allen, and 6-0 So. Eric Boone.

 

The score was tied 27-27 at halftime but Lexington Catholic outscored Tates Creek 23-10 in the third quarter on their way to a 69-55 victory.  The score was tied six times and there were four lead changes in the game.  Lexington Catholic shot 45.3% from the field including one of eight from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 20 of 31 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Tates Creek turnovers.  Tates Creek shot 32.6% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Commodores connected on 23 of 29 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Zan Payne led Lexington Catholic with 21 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  JJ Ogbogu added 18 points on seven of 10 from the field and four of six from the free throw line.  Luke Johnson recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Donovan Morris chipped in with 11 points, six assists, and four steals.

 

Eric Boone led Tates Creek with 16 points including 10 of 14 free throws.  Decotah Fay added 13 points and seven rebounds.  Isaiah Patterson recorded eight points and 6-3 Sr. Landon Porter pulled down 11 rebounds.
