Eastern Kentucky University vs. University of Kentucky (Men)

Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Jarelle Reischel, 6-5 Javontae Hawkins, 6-9 Fr. Nick Mayo, 6-1 So. Paul Jackson, and 6-2 Jr. Isaac McGlone.  University of Kentucky coach John Calipari countered with 6-8 Sr. Alex Poythress, 6-4 Fr. Jamal Murray, 6-11 Fr. Skal Labissiere, 5-9 So. Tyler Ulis, and 6-3 Fr. Isaiah Briscoe.

 

University of Kentucky eventually pulled away to defeat a game Eastern Kentucky University team by a score of 88-67.  Kentucky shot 54.7% from the field including four of 19 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 50 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 13 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Kentucky held a 29-9 advantage in second chance points.  Eastern Kentucky University shot 40% from the field including five of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 17 Kentucky turnovers.

 

Alex Poythress led Kentucky with 21 points and 13 rebounds.  Jamal Murray added 16 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, and four assists.  6-9 Jr. Marcus Lee recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Isaiah Briscoe chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.  Skal Labissiere added 10 points, four rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Tyler Ulis recorded nine points, four rebounds, and eight assists.

 

Javontae Hawkins led Eastern Kentucky University with 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Jarelle Reischel added 12 points and six rebounds.  Paul Jackson chipped in with 10 points and three assists.  Nick Mayo added nine points.
