Wayne County coach Rodney Woods started the following lineup: 6-8 Sr. Nick Gillespie, 6-4 So. Jakson Baker, 6-7 Sr. Daniel Coldiron, 6-1 Jr. Logan Brett, and 6-0 Sr. Trey Blevins.  (6-2 Sr. Corey Stearns unable to play tonight-injury).  Lafayette coach Mike Mendenhall III countered with 6-1 Sr. William Watkins, 6-0 Sr. Harrison Lane, 6-6 Sr. Ross Jenkins, 5-9 Sr. TJ Downey, and 5-9 Sr. Jaelin Jenkins.

 

Lafayette led 45-43 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for an 84-70 victory over Wayne County.  There were five lead changes and four ties in the game.  Lafayette shot 46.3% from the field including 10 of 30 from the three point line.  The Generals connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 22 Wayne County turnovers.  Wayne County shot 41.4% from the field including five of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 17 of 23 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 15 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Ross Jenkins led Lafayette with 24 points and 14 rebounds.  5-10 So. Eric Powell added 14 points including four three point baskets.  Jaelin Jenkins and Harrison Lane chipped in with 13 and 10 points respectively.

 

Daniel Coldiron led Wayne County with 15 points including two three point baskets and nine rebounds.  Trey Blevins also scored 15 points, five assists, and four steals.  Jakson Baker recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds.  Nick Gillespie chipped in with 13 points and six rebounds.
