Southern Illinois University Edwardsville coach Lennox Forrester started the following lineup: 6-6 Sr. Michael Messer, 6-4 Sr. Rozell Nunn, 6-10 Sr. Keaton Jackson, 6-0 Jr. Donivine Stewart, and 6-2 Sr. Kris Davis. Eastern Kentucky pulled away in the second half to defeat SIUE by a score of 78-62. Eastern Kentucky trailed 33-32 at halftime and there were five ties and nine lead changes in the first half. Eastern Kentucky opened the second half with a 10-0 run and quickly took control of the game. EKU shot 56.5% from the field including six of 18 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 20 of 26 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 23 SIUE turnovers. SIUE shot 39.6% from the field including 10 of 20 from beyond the arc. The Cougars connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 14 EKU turnovers.
Eric Stutz led EKU with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. Stutz was seven of nine from the field including two of three from beyond the arc and eight of eight free throws. Corey Walden added 19 points and five assists. Timmy Knipp recorded 14 points including seven of eight free throws.
Kris Davis added SIUE with 15 points including two three point baskets. 6-2 Sr. Maurice Wiltz added 13 points including two three point baskets. Keaton Jackson recorded nine points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots.6-6 Jr. Jake Newton also scored nine points including two three point baskets.
