Valparaiso coach Bryce Drew started the following lineup: 6-9 So. Alec Peters, 6-3 Jr. Darien Walker, 6-10 Sr. Vashil Fernandez, 6-1 Fr. Keith Carter, and 6-1 Fr. Tevonn Walker.  Eastern coach Jeff Neubauer countered with 6-7 Sr. Timmy Knipp, 6-7 Jr. Ja’Mill Powell, 6-8 Sr. Eric Stutz, 6-2 Sr. Corey Walden, and 6-2 So. Isaac McGlone.

Eastern led 45-43 early in the second half but Valparaiso went on a 22-4 run to lead 65-49 on their way to a 72-66 victory.  There were four ties and 14 lead changes in this game.  Valparaiso shot 49% from the field including 11 of 21 from the three point line.  They connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven EKU turnovers.  EKU shot 36.1% from the field including 12 of 37 from beyond the arc.  The colonels connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Valparaiso turnovers.

Alec Peters led Valparaiso with 21 points including seven of eight from the three point line and seven rebounds.  Tevonn Walker added 15 points.  Vashil Fernandez added 12 points on six of six from the field, six rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Keith Carter recorded nine points and seven assists.  6-8 Fr. David Skara pulled down nine rebounds.

Timmy Knipp led EKU with 16 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds.  Corey Walden added 13 points and five rebounds.  Eric Stutz chipped in with 11 points.  6-4 So. Jaylen Babb-Harrison also reached double figures with 10 points.
