Newport Central Catholic coach George Stoll started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Alexus Mayes, 5-5 Sr. Stephanie Lewis, 5-10 Sr. Nicole Kiernan, 5-2 So. Ansley Davenport, and 5-3 Jr. Michaela Ware.  Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 5-9 Sr. DaiJia Ruffin, 5-6 Sr. Raven Merriweather, 5-11 So. Maggie Colley, 5-4 Jr. Ashley Johnson, and 5-4 Jr. Gretchen Samsel.

Sacred Heart Academy defeated Newport Central Catholic by a score of 59-45.  SHA shot 45.6% from the field including one of six from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 50 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 NCC turnovers.  NCC shot 28.3% from the field including three of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Thoroughbreds connected on eight of 14 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 SHA turnovers.

DaiJia Ruffin led SHA with 22 points, 17 rebounds, and five assists.  Raven Merriweather added 16 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.  Gretchen Samsel chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.  Ashley Johnson pulled down eight rebounds.

Nicole Kiernan led NCC with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Michaela Ware added 11 points and Alexus Mayes pulled down seven rebounds.

NCC (45) – Mayes 5, Lewis 0, Kiernan 20, Davenport 3, Ware 11, Neace 6.
