Scott County  vs.  Lexington Catholic (Boys) (Semifinal)

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Jalen Haddix, 6-1 Sr. Deonte Doss, 6-3 Jr. Dylan Portwood, 6-0 Sr. Quinn Richardson, and 6-2 Jr. Trent Gilbert.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 So. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 So. Reese Ryan, 6-9 Sr. Jack Whitman, 5-11 Sr. Dillon Avare, and 6-2 So. Jarod Griffin.

Lexington Catholic defeated Scott County 61-56 in overtime.  Scott County was uncharacteristically cold from the field (33.8%) but battled hard the entire way before finally falling off the pace in overtime.  Lexington Catholic raced out to an early 14-4 lead but Scott County raced back into contention with two lead changes and seven ties in the game.  The score was tied 52-52 in overtime with 2:08 left on the clock when Tanner Johnson nailed a long three pointer to give Lexington Catholic a 55-52 lead.  Johnson was carried off the floor with a twisted ankle and a cramp in his calf after the shot.  Lexington Catholic held on down the stretch for a hard earned victory and a trip to the championship game.

Lexington Catholic shot 42.2% from the field including four of 18 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 19 of 26 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Scott County turnovers.  Lexington Catholic held a 12-0 advantage in bench scoring.  Scott County shot 33.8% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Scott County attempted 23 more shots (68-45) from the field than Lexington Catholic.

Lexington Catholic was led by their inside-outside combination of Jack Whitman and Tanner Johnson.  Whitman led the Knights with 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Johnson added 18 points including four three point baskets and six rebounds.  Jarod Griffin chipped in with nine points.

Quinn Richardson ends his Scott County basketball career with 25 points, five rebounds, and five assists.  Trent Gilbert added 18 points including three three point baskets and three steals.  Jalen Haddix chipped in with nine points and 10 rebounds.  Deonte Doss pulled down nine rebounds.
