Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 6-4 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus.  Paul L. Dunbar coach Sarah Bridenbaugh countered with 5-10 Sr. Joia Pollard, 5-8 Sr. Lexus Edwards, 6-2 Jr. Brooke Todd, 5-4 Jr. Shakeema Jackson, and 5-4 Sr. Kierra Muhammad.

Lafayette scored 28 points off 22 Dunbar turnovers in a 69-56 victory.  Lafayette broke open the game with a 26-10 run in the second quarter to take a 42-20 lead at halftime.    Lafayette also held a 20-6 advantage in second effort points.  Lafayette shot 45.3% from the field including four of seven from the free throw line.  The Lady Generals connected on 17 of 23 free throws and pulled down 38 rebounds. Dunbar shot 40.7% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bulldogs connected on six of 13 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 21 Lafayette turnovers.

Sarah Cooley led Lafayette with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  Dee Givens added 14 points, four rebounds, five assists, and seven steals.  5-9 8th grade Kiara Pankins chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.  Ashanti Thomas recorded 12 points and eight rebounds.  Megumi Nagahiro recorded four assists and five steals.  Keny’ale Demus added nine points including two three point baskets.

Shakeema Jackson led Dunbar with 22 points including six three point baskets.  Brooke Todd added eight points and six rebounds.  5-4 Sr. Jordin Fender recorded eight points, six assists, and four steals.  Kierra Muhammad also scored eight points.  Joia Pollard chipped in with six points, six rebounds, and three steals.
