Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 5-8 8th grade Kiara Pankins, 6-3 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus.  Deming coach Thomas Mitchell Jr. countered with 5-5 8th grade Breanna Hesler, 5-3 So. Lacey Mitchell, 5-11 Sr. Krista Smithers, 5-1 8th grade Madison Fryman, and 5-1 8th grade Aletha Thomas.

Lafayette raced out to a 28-6 first quarter lead on their way to a 65-23 victory over Deming.  Lafayette shot 41.9% from the field including one of five from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 12 of 13 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 20 Deming turnovers.  Deming shot 20.6% from the field including zero of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Devils connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored one point off seven Lafayette turnovers.

Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 12 points and eight rebounds.  5-6 Jr. Shirlisa Demus added 12 points and six rebounds. Kiara Pankins recorded 11 points and eight rebounds.  Dee Givens also reached double figures with 10 points.

Lacey Mitchell led Deming with 12 points and eight rebounds.  Krista Smithers added eight points.
