Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 6-0 So. Sarah Cooley, 5-10 Fr. Dee Givens, 6-3 Fr. Ashanti Thomas, 5-5 Sr. Sarah Martin, and 5-6 So. Ken’yale Demus. Lexington Catholic acting head coach Nick Cann countered with 6-0 Sr. Alex Botkin, 6-0 Sr. Emily Johns, 6-0 Sr. Elizabeth Walton, 5-8 Sr. Bonnie Rhule, and 5-9 Jr. Octavia Wilson.
Lexington Catholic pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Lafayette by a score of 54-40. Lexington Catholic shot 39.6% from the field including four of 10 from the three point line. The Lady Knights connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Lafayette turnovers. Lafayette shot 37% from the field including three of 19 from beyond the arc. The Lady Generals connected on three of nine free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Alex Botkin led Lexington Catholic with 23 points, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Botkin also topped 1,000 career points with her first basket tonight. Emily Johns added eight points. Bonnie Rhule pulled down nine rebounds and Octavia Wilson dished out seven assists.
Ashanti Thomas led Lafayette with 20 points and six rebounds. 5-7 Sr. Aleisha Stiltner added six points and five rebounds. Ken’yale Demus also recorded six points.
