Scott County  vs.  Lexington Catholic (Girls)

Scott County coach Steve Helton started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Mary Logsdon, 5-11 So. Tereka Guyn, 5-11 So. Iman Guy, 5-7 So. Danielle Defoor, and 5-6 So. Audriana Christopher.  Lexington Catholic coach Chelsea Chowning countered with 6-0 Sr. Alex Botkin, 5-10 Sr. Emily Johns, 6-0 Sr. Elizabeth Walton, 5-7 Sr. Bonnie Rhule, and 5-9 Jr. Octavia Wilson.

Octavia Wilson scored on a drive to the basket with two seconds left on the clock to give Lexington Catholic a 73-72 overtime victory over Scott County.  Lexington Catholic led 46-40 after three quarters but Scott County rallied to tie the game at 63-63 on a basket by Tereka Guyn with 3.7 seconds left in regulation.  Guyn then blocked a shot by Alex Botkin at the buzzer to send the game to overtime.  Scott County took a 72-71 lead with 13.1 seconds in overtime on a put-back by Tereka Guyn setting the stage for Wilson’s late heroics.

Lexington Catholic shot 43.3% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 16 of 29 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Scott County turnovers.  Scott County shot 39.3% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 18 of 28 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Lexington Catholic turnovers.

Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 32 points including 12 of 16 from the free throw line and dished out nine assists.  Alex Botkin added 14 points and eight rebounds.  Emily Johns chipped in with 11 points and 13 rebounds.  5-9 Fr. Rachel Blake came off the bench to record eight points in key possessions.

Audriana Christopher led Scott County with 26 points including 12 of 16 free throws and dished out six assists.  Danielle Defoor added 15 points on five three point baskets.  Tereka Guyn recorded 12 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Mary Logsdon chipped in with 11 points and six rebounds.  Iman Guy added eight points and 11 rebounds.
