Lafayette coach Greg Coldiron started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Tanner Napier, 6-2 Sr. Dominique Hagans, 6-7 8th grader Jackson Davis, 5-10 Sr. Eric Shaw, and 6-1 Sr. Mike Walker. Tates Creek coach Wayne Breeden countered with 6-3 Jr. Marcellus Barksdale, 6-2 Sr. Justin Daughtery, 6-4 Sr. Ezra Garner, 6-2 Jr. Ryan Fucci, and 5-11 So. Darius Gibson.
Lafayette led 37-36 after three quarters and pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 65-56 victory over Tates Creek. Lafayette held a 21-9 advantage in three point points.
Lafayette shot 40.3% from the field including seven of 19 from the three point line. The Generals connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 18 Tates Creek turnovers. Tates Creek shot 42% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc. The Commodores connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 13 Lafayette turnovers.
Mike Walker led Lafayette with 18 points and six rebounds. Jackson Davis added 13 points and nine rebounds. 5-11 Sr. John Burton and Tanner Napier chipped in with 11 points each. Napier recorded three three point baskets. Domonique Hagans added eight points and 12 rebounds.
Ryan Fucci led Tates Creek with 21 points, six rebounds, and four steals. Marcellus Barksdale added 13 points and seven rebounds.
