Henry Clay (15-12) vs. Lafayette (9-16) (Boys)
Topic: Basketball

Lexington KY February 17th  -  Henry Clay avenged an earlier loss to Lafayette with an 87-74 victory over the Generals tonight.  The hot-shooting Henry Clay Blue Devils were 59.2% from the field and 22 of 23 from the free throw line. 6-4 Sr. Deron Linton of Lafayette who missed the entire season due to a heart condition was allowed to start and score the first basket and then went to the bench.  This was truly a class gesture by both teams to honor a young man who would have been one of the better players in the region if healthy.

Henry Clay shot 59.2% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 22 of 23 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 10 points off seven Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 48.1% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 17 of 22 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 Henry Clay turnovers.

6-0 Sr. Prince Stewart led Henry Clay with 31 points including five three point baskets.  6-3 Sr. TJ Barnes added 15 points and 10 rebounds.  6-1 So. Trey Stewart chipped in with 12 points.  6-4 So. Daniel Kiesling recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.
