The All “A” Classic included four teams in 1991.  The 1992 version expanded to include eight teams and in 1993 the tournament again expanded to include a full complement of 16 teams.  Winners crowned to date are 1991 Cumberland, 1992 Cumberland, 1993 Nicholas County, 1994 Louisville Holy Cross, 1995 Monroe County, 1996 Louisville Holy Cross, 1997 Hazard, 1998 Hazard, 1999 Bishop Brossart, 2000 Somerset, 2001 Jackson County, 2002 Jackson County, 2003 Clinton County, 2004 Clinton County, 2005 Christian Academy of Louisville, 2006 Monroe County, 2007 Lexington Christian Academy, 2008 Lexington Christian Academy, 2009 Lexington Christian Academy, 2010 Newport Central Catholic, 2011 Owensboro Catholic, 2012 Walton-Verona, 2013 Owensboro Catholic, 2014 Glasgow, and Covington Holy Cross.

Kentucky Country Day (Region 7) vs. Owensboro Catholic (Region 3)

 

Kentucky Country Day coach Harry Hayes started the following lineup: 5-6 Jr. Kierra Scott, 5-6 Jr. Olyvia Green, 5-7 Jr. Tia Dowling, 5-2 Sr. Sara Kate Smith, and 5-6 Sr. Daria Eisenbrei.  Owensboro Catholic coach Michael Robertson countered with 5-10 Sr. Annabel Moore, 5-9 So. Ellie Mitchell, 5-10 Sr. Caroline Hayden, 5-7 Sr. Mikayla Berry, and 5-8 Sr. Emily Marshall.

 

Owensboro Catholic scored 35 points off 28 Kentucky Country Day turnovers on their way to a 68-31 victory.  Owensboro Catholic shot 37.9% from the field including seven of 22 from the three point line.  They attempted 36 more shots (66-30) from the field than Kentucky Country Day.  The Lady Aces connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and held a 16-0 advantage in second effort points.  Kentucky Country Day shot 40% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bearcats connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Owensboro Catholic turnovers.

 

Annabel Moore led Owensboro Catholic with 24 points including three three point baskets, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Caroline Hayden added 11 points and six rebounds.  Mikayla Berry recorded 10 points including two three point baskets.

 

Kierra Scott led KCD with eight points and four rebounds.  Daria Eisenbrei added seven points, four rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots.  Olyvia Green chipped in with six points.

Shelby Valley defeated Danville by a score of 52-42.  Shelby Valley shot 50% from the field including five of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Cats connected on nine of 18 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Danville turnovers.  Danville shot 33.3% from the field including zero of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Admirals connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 17 Shelby Valley turnovers.

 

Lakyn Mullins led Shelby Valley with 20 points and eight rebounds.  Summer Rose added 13 points including three three point baskets.  Kayla Newsom chipped in with 11 points.  Kyleigh Tackett recorded five points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

 

Ivy Turner led Danville with 21 points and seven rebounds.  Alyvia Walker added 15 points and seven rebounds.

Bracken County coach Barrett Bradshaw started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Madison Kalb, 5-10 Sr. Bailey Cummins, 6-1 Jr. Korbin Florer, 5-4 Jr. Caitlyn Rose, and 5-8 So. Kinley Ruf.  Harlan coach Derrick Akal countered with 5-9 So. McKenzie King, 5-8 Sr. Katie King, 5-10 Jr. Emma Bianchi, 5-5 Jr. Jordan Brock, and 5-5 Sr. Brooklyn Massingill.

 

Harlan raced out to a 25-11 first quarter lead on their way to a 55-30 victory over Bracken County.  Harlan shot 51.3% from the field including seven of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Dragons connected on eight of 17 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 11 points off seven Bracken County turnovers.  Bracken County shot 29.3% from the field including one of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Polar Bears connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored two points off seven Harlan turnovers.

 

Jordan Brock led Harlan with 18 points including two three point baskets and eight rebounds.  Brooklyn Massingill added 14 points including three three point baskets.  Emma Bianchi recorded nine points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.  McKenzie King chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.

 

Korbin Florer led Bracken County with seven points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Madison Kalb added seven points and six rebounds.  Bailey Cummins recorded seven points, three rebounds, and four assists.

Frankfort defeated Menifee County by a score of 72-50.  Frankfort shot 50.8% from the field including zero of six from the three point line.  The Lady Panthers connected on 10 of 19 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 27 Menifee County turnovers.  Menifee County shot 33.9% from the field including five of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cats connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 18 Frankfort turnovers.

 

Brianna Burbridge led Frankfort with 48 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and eight steals.  Burbridge was 20 of 27 from the field including zero of three from beyond the arc, and eight of 12 free throws.  The 48 points and 12 field goals are new tourney records in the girls division.  Jasmine Turpin added 14 points and six rebounds.

 

Ashton Woodard led Menifee County with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists.  Drew Evans added 11 points and four steals.  Marriah Back recorded 10 points and six rebounds.

Walton-Verona defeated Presentation by a score of 60-51.  Walton-Verona shot 37.3% from the field including four of 25 from the three point line.  The Lady Bearcats connected on 18 of 27 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 11 Presentation turnovers.  Presentation shot 36.7% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Toppers connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 12 Walton-Verona turnovers.

 

Hailey Ison led Walton-Verona with 29 points including 12 of 17 free throws, nine rebounds, and five assists.  Morgan Simpson added 18 points and six rebounds.  Aubrielle Anderson pulled down nine rebounds.

 

Lilly Stephenson led Presentation with 16 points, five rebounds, and four steals.  Coutney Jackson added 10 points and eight rebounds.  5-5 So. Jaelin Thompson chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets.  Julia Vogt recorded seven points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Murray defeated Green County 64-48.  Murray shot 40.4% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on 24 of 34 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 12 Green County turnovers.  Murray held a 16-4 advantage on second effort points.  Green County shot 36% from the field including three of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Dragons connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored six points off 13 Murray turnovers.

 

Alexis Burpo led Murray with 23 points, 16 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Macey Turley added 16 points, five rebounds, six assists, and five steals.  Alexandria Mayes chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds.  Maddie Waldrop recorded nine points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.

 

Hannah Judd led Green County with 14 points.  Mya Schrembs added 13 points including two three point baskets.  Shelby Howell recorded nine points and four rebounds.  Ivy Hedgespeth chipped in with five points and six rebounds.

Newport Central Catholic dominated in the paint in a 59-27 victory over Livingston Central.  Newport Central Catholic shot 35.6% from the field including three of 20 from the three point line.  Newport Central Catholic attempted 31 more shots (73-42) from the field than Livingston Central.  The Lady Thoroughbreds connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 56 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Livingston Central turnovers.  Livingston central shot 16.7% from the field including two of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off 11 Newport Central Catholic turnovers.

 

Ansley Davenport led Newport Central Catholic with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Ajia Rice added 12 points and six rebounds.  Meg Martin pulled down nine rebounds.  Olivia Schalk recorded five points, four rebounds, five assists, and five steals.  Lexy Breen added six points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Owensboro Catholic led 30-29 after three quarters but pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Shelby Valley by a score of 54-37.  The score was tied four times and there were two lead changes in the game.  Owensboro Catholic shot 44.7% from the field including one of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Aces connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 20 Shelby Valley turnovers.  Shelby Valley shot 36.4% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cats connected on two of five free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Owensboro Catholic turnovers.

 

Annabel Moore led Owensboro Catholic with 22 points.  Moore was 10 of 14 from the field and two of two from the free throw line.  Mikayla Berry added 17 points including eight of nine free throws and six assists.  Caroline Hayden recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals.

 

Lakyn Mullins led Shelby Valley with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals.  Kyleigh Tackett added eight points, four rebounds, and three assists.  Kayla Newsom recorded six points and three rebounds.

Jordan Brock led Harlan with 39 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds.  Brooklyn Massingill added 13 points.  McKenzie King recorded seven points and eight rebounds.

Lily Ramey led Murray with 17 points including three three point baskets.  Ramey was six of seven from the field including three of four from beyond the arc, and two of two free throws.  Maddie Waldrop added 12 points and six rebounds.  Alexandria Mayes chipped in with 11 points and three steals.  5-7 Jr. Brittany Lawson recorded 10 points including three three point baskets.  Macey Turley dished our eight assists and Alexis Burpo pulled down six rebounds.

Newport Central Catholic defeated Glasgow 70-65 in overtime.  Newport Central Catholic led 29-16 late in the second quarter but Glasgow rallied to force overtime.  There were one lead change and four ties in the game.  Newport Central Catholic shot 43.6% from the field including four of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Thoroughbreds connected on 18 of 22 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 15 Glasgow turnovers.  Glasgow shot 44.7% from the field including five of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Scotties connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Newport Central Catholic turnovers.

 

Ansley Davenport led Newport Central Catholic with 35 points including 10 of 13 free throws, seven rebounds, three assists, and five steals.  Olivia Schalk added 14 points including six of six free throws and four assists.  Lexy Breen recorded 11 points including three three point baskets.  5-6 Fr. Kara Zimmerman chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.  Meg Martin pulled down nine rebounds.

 

Elli Bartley led Glasgow with 28 points including four three point baskets, six rebounds, and three steals.  Bree Glover added 25 points including eight of 10 free throws, six rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Amanda Lee chipped in with six points and six rebounds.

Harlan coach Derrick Akal started the following lineup: 5-9 So. McKenzie King, 5-8 Sr. Katie King, 5-10 Jr. Emma Bianchi, 5-5 Jr. Jordan Brock, and 5-5 Sr. Brooklyn Massingill.  Owensboro Catholic coach Michael Robertson countered with 5-10 Sr. Annabel Moore, 5-9 So. Ellie Mitchell, 5-10 Sr. Caroline Hayden, 5-7 Sr. Mikayla Berry, and 5-8 Sr. Emily Marshall.

 

Owensboro Catholic forced 21 turnovers, recorded 12 steals, and blocked four shots in a 52-32 victory over Harlan.  Owensboro Catholic shot 36% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Aces connected on 11 of 20 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 29 points off 21 Harlan turnovers.  Harlan shot 31.45 from the field including seven of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Dragons connected on three of six free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored five points off 12 Owensboro Catholic turnovers.

 

Caroline Hayden led Owensboro Catholic with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals.  Annabel Moore added 14 points including three three point baskets.  Mikayla Berry recorded six points, five rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.  Ellie Mitchell chipped in with four points, six rebounds, and five steals.

 

Brooklyn Massingill led Harlan with 15 points on five three point baskets and five rebounds.  Jordan Brock added 14 points including two three point baskets.  McKenzie King pulled down six rebounds.

Alexis Burpo, 5-8 Sr. Lily Ramey, 6-2 Jr. Maddie Waldrop, 5-7 So. Alexandria Mayes, and 5-7 So. Macey Turley.

 

Murray defeated Newport Central Catholic by a score of 65-39.  Murray shot a sizzling 56.8% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on 20 of 24 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Newport Central Catholic turnovers.  Newport Central Catholic shot 30% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Thoroughbreds connected on three of six free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine Murray turnovers.

 

Maddie Waldrop led Murray with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, and five blocked shots.  Alexandria Mayes also scored 16 points.  Mayes was six of six from the field including two of two from beyond the arc, and two of two free throws.  Macey Turley recorded 11 points including eight of nine free throws and six assists.  Alexis Burpo chipped in with nine points and 12 rebounds.

 

Ansley Davenport led Newport Central Catholic with 12 points and seven rebounds.  Olivia Schalk added six points, four rebounds, and six assists.

Ellie Mitchell, 5-10 Sr. Caroline Hayden, 5-7 Sr. Mikayla Berry, and 5-8 Sr. Emily Marshall.

 

Murray defeated Owensboro Catholic by a score of 45-28 to capture the championship.  Murray shot 44.2% from the field including two of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 18 Owensboro Catholic turnovers.  Owensboro Catholic shot 22.7% from the field including four of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Aces connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 18 Murray turnovers.

 

Maddie Waldrop led Murray with 14 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.  Macey Turley also scored 14 points including two three point baskets and recorded three steals.  Alexis Burpo recorded eight points, six rebounds, and three assists.  Alexandria Mayes recorded four steals.

 

Emily Marshall led Owensboro Catholic with 11 points including three three point baskets.  Annabel Moore added six points.  Caroline Hayden recorded four points, seven rebounds, and five steals.  Mikayla Berry pulled down seven rebounds and recorded four steals.
