Knox Central vs. Fern Creek

 

Knox Central coach James Voight started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Delonie Graham, 6-2 So. Tanner Wells, 6-5 Jr. Chad Marsee, 6-0 Sr. Nate Cole, and 6-1 Sr. Matthew Barger.  Fern Creek coach James Schooler III countered with 6-3 Fr. Trey Hill, 6-2 Fr. Ahmad Price, 6-7 Sr. Dezi Angonva, 5-8 Fr. Anthony Wales, and 5-10 Jr. Tony Washington.

 

Fern Creek defeated Knox Central by a score of 70-66.  This game was a game of runs with six lead changes and six ties.  Fern Creek raced out to an early 24-11 lead but Knox Central rallied to tie the game 34-34 late in the second quarter.  Fern Creek led 37-36 at halftime.  Fern Creek came out blazing and went on a 15-2 run to take a quick 10 point lead but Knox Central responded with an 11-1 lead to knot the score at 55-55 after three quarters.  Fern Creek took an early lead in the final quarter and Knox Central cut the deficit to two but could never overcome the Tigers despite missed free throws down the stretch by Fern Creek.

 

Fern Creek shot 49% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on 14 of 28 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 13 Knox Central turnovers.  Fern Creek held an 18-0 advantage in three point points.  Knox Central shot 43.9% from the field including zero of four from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 16 of 28 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 10 Fern Creek turnovers. 

 

Ahmad Price led Fern Creek with 19 points including two three point baskets, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Anthony Wales added 15 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.  Tony Washington recorded 12 points including two three point baskets.  Dezi Agonza chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Trey Hill added seven points, five rebounds, and four assists.

 

Matthew Barger led Knox Central with 26 points including 10 of 11 free throws, five assists, and four steals.  Chad Marsee added 16 points and 16 rebounds.  Tanner Wells recorded nine points and eight rebounds.

Newport vs. Fairdale

 

Newport coach Rodney Snapp started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Ethan Snapp, 6-1 Jr. Kedan Davis, 6-3 Jr. Kameron Covington, 5-10 Fr. Rico Hollis, and 6-0 Sr. Paul Price.  Fairdale coach David Hicks II countered with 6-2 Sr. Rontez Johnson, 6-0 Jr. Dakota Collie, 6-4 Jr. Korey Tipton, 5-7 Sr. Damon Moore, and 6-1 Jr. DJ Jones.

 

6-4 Jr. Tre Richardson scored on a dunk with four seconds remaining in the game to give Fairdale a 57-56 victory over Newport.  Fairdale led 32-22 in the third quarter but Newport rallied to take a 54-49 lead with approximately two and a half minutes left in the game.  Fairdale finished the game on an 8-2 run to earn the victory.  There were eight lead changes and two ties in this game.

 

Fairdale shot 48.9% from the field including two of nine from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 15 Newport turnovers.  Newport shot 34.9% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Wildcats connected on seven of seven free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 17 Fairdale turnovers.

 

6-4 Jr. Tre Richardson led Fairdale with 18 points and seven blocked shots.  DJ Jones added 13 points and six rebounds.  Dakota Collie recorded nine points.

 

Ethan Snapp led Newport with 27 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and four steals.  Kedan Davis added nine points and four rebounds.  6-0 Sr. Dominick Joseph recorded seven points and six rebounds.  Paul Price chipped in with six points, six rebounds, and five steals.  Kameron Covington pulled down 10 rebounds.

Covington Catholic vs. Pleasure Ridge Park

 

 

Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Andy Flood, 6-2 Sr. Grant Romes, 6-6 Sr. Bo Schuh, 6-1 Sr. Cooper Theobald, and 6-2 So. Cole VonHandorf.  Pleasure Ridge Park coach Dale Mabrey countered with 6-5 Sr. Richard Gaines, 6-3 Sr. Bryce Walker, 6-3 Sr. Drew Glass, 6-0 Jr. Hunter Stevenson, and 6-1 Sr. Greg Davidson.

 

Covington Catholic finally pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Pleasure Ridge Park by a score of 65-54.  There were 10 lead changes and seven ties in this game.  Covington Catholic shot 46.2% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 19 Pleasure Ridge Park turnovers.  Pleasure Ridge Park shot 37.3% from the field including two of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Covington Catholic turnovers.

 

Cole VonHandorf led Covington Catholic with 29 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Andy Flood added 14 points including two three point baskets.  6-1 Sr. Matthew Shumate chipped in with nine points.  Cooper Theobald recorded eight points, six rebounds, and three steals.

 

Richard Gaines led Pleasure Ridge Park with 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Greg Davidson added 11 points and six rebounds.  Drew Glass recorded 10 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals.

Jeffersonville coach Matt Pait started the following lineup: 6-3 So. Cameron Northern, 6-0 Sr. Chad Hudson, 6-4 Jr. Anthony Southers, 5-9 Jr. Demarre Sims, and 5-10 Sr. Ronnie Todd.  Fairdale coach David Hicks II countered with 6-2 Sr. Rontez Johnson, 6-4 Jr. Tre Richardson, 6-4 Jr. Korey Tipton, 5-7 Sr. Damon Moore, and 6-1 Jr. DJ Jones.

 

Jeffersonville defeated Fairdale by a score of 54-51.  Jeffersonville shot 43.8% from the

field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Red Devils connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 13 Fairdale turnovers.  Fairdale shot 43.8% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Jeffersonville turnovers.

 

Demarre Sims led Jeffersonville with 18 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Anthony Southers added eight points.  Chad Hudson added seven points and five rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Triston Kimbrough and So. Michael Minton also scored seven points each.

 

5-9 Fr. Glenn Quenn led Fairdale with 16 points including four three point baskets, four rebounds, and four assists.  Tre Richardson added 14 points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Korey Tipton recorded eight points and 15 rebounds.

Shelby County vs. Bullitt East

 

Shelby County coach Jason Couch started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Keenan Cochran, 5-10 Sr. Jacob Gowin, 6-2 Jr. James Gordon, 5-3 Jr. Michael Ewing, and 5-8 Sr. Kyler Dugle.  Bullitt East coach 6-7 Jr. Jared Farris, 6-4 Jr. Brandon Klefot, 6-7 Sr. Tyler Bacon, 6-0 Jr. Tyler Sharpe, and 6-2 Jr. Bailey Rakes.

 

Bullitt East pulled away in the second half to defeat Shelby County by a score of 76-56.  The score was tied five times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Bullitt East shot 49.1% from the field including three of 15 from the three point line.  The Chargers connected on 21 of 27 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 19 Shelby County turnovers.  Shelby County shot 45.7% from the field including two of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected on 12 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Bullitt East turnovers.

 

Tyler Sharpe led Bullitt East with 24 points including 11 of 12 free throws, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Jared Farris added 20 points and four rebounds.  Bailey Rakes recorded seven points, six rebounds, and five assists.  Brandon Klefot pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Keenan Cochran led Shelby County with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  6-2 Sr. Luke Dove added 10 points and six rebounds.  James Gordon also scored 10 points.  Kyler Dugle recorded eight points and five assists.

David Sloan, and 6-0 So. Ezra Oliver.

 

Taylor County defeated Henderson County by a score of 83-80 in a physical game that featured 51 fouls and a total of 61 free throws attempted.  Henderson County led 54-44 in the third quarter but Taylor County closed out the quarter on a 12-1 run to lead 56-55 after three quarters.  There were 28 lead changes and 13 ties in this game.

 

Taylor County shot 49.2% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 21 of 31 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 17 Henderson County turnovers.  Henderson County shot 57.1% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 21 of 30 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 12 Taylor County turnovers.

 

Brandon Berry led Taylor County with 28 points and eight rebounds.  Quentin Goodin added 26 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  David Sloan recorded 15 points and six assists.

 

David Simmons led Henderson County with 25 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Brady Norman added 24 points including two three point baskets.  6-0 Sr. DJ Washington recorded 20 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Paul Laurence Dunbar defeated duPont Manual by a score of 84-73.  There were four lead changes and three ties in this game.  Dunbar shot 57.4% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 28 of 40 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, scored 19 points off 16 Manual turnovers, and were whistled for 27 fouls.  Manual shot 32.8% from the field including eight of 24 from beyond the arc.  They attempted 20 more shots (67-47) from the field than Dunbar.  The Crimsons connected on 21 of 31 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, scored 30 points off 24 Dunbar turnovers, and were whistled for 28 fouls.

 

Taveion Hollingsworth led Dunbar with 40 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Darius Williams added 30 points including 11 of 13 free throws, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

 

Dwayne Sutton led Manual with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Steven Gordon added 13 points and five rebounds.  5-9 Sr. Ja’Kory Freeman recorded 10 points including three three point baskets.  6-2 Jr. Eric Niemann chipped in with nine points.  6-4 Sr. Jake Chilton added eight points and Tyron Horton recorded six points and seven rebounds.
