Waggener  (5-20)  vs.  Sacred Heart Academy  (14-13)

 

Waggener coach Scott Ricks started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Katie Howard, 5-3 Sr. Shanae Brooks, 5-7 Jr. Ashley Palmer, 5-6 So. Carlesha Rice, and 5-5 Sr. Stephanie Townsell.  Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir countered with 5-9 Sr. Mary Gordon Stough, 5-6 So. Jade Tubb, 5-10 Jr. Morgan Clemons, 5-4 Jr. Maddie Peabody, and 5-5 Jr. Hannah Washle.

 

Sacred Heart scored 34 points off 33 Waggener turnovers in a 65-31 victory.  Sacred Heart held a 25-8 advantage in bench scoring. 

 

Sacred Heart shot 47.2% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 12 of 20 free throws and pulled down 34 rebounds. Twelve players saw action for Sacred Heart with everyone cracking the scoring column.  The starters logged from 8:27 to 14:54 minutes.  Waggener shot 22.2% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Wildcats connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Sacred Heart turnovers.

 

Morgan Clemons led Sacred Heart with nine points and seven rebounds.  Maddie Peabody also scored nine points.  Hannah Washle, Mary Gordon Stough, and 6-0 So. Olivia Niehoff  added eight points each.

 

Katie Howard led Waggener with eight points and six rebounds.  Ashley Palmer added seven points and six rebounds.

Seneca  (8-16)  vs.  Ballard  (18-10)

Seneca coach Willie Jackson started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Portia Durrett,5-7 Fr. Niya Anderson, Ashley Leach, 5-4 Fr. Jada Grady, and 5-9 Sr. Erin Keels.  Ballard coach Steve Kaufman countered with 5-11 Jr. Tavey Smith, 5-7 Sr. Nicole Heitz, 6-3 Jr. Ciara Woods, 5-6 Sr. Bryelle Bonds, and 5-7 Sr. Larissa Stafford.

 

Ballard defeated Seneca by a score of 60-39.  Ballard shot 29.2% from the field including only two of 22 from the three point line.  The Lady bruins connected on 16 of 35 free throws, pulled down 47 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 32 Seneca turnovers.  Ballard attempted 36 more shots (72-36) from the field than Seneca.  Seneca shot 33.3% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Redhawks connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 10 Ballard turnovers.

 

Larissa Stafford led Ballard with nine points.  Nicole Heitz added eight points and seven rebounds.  Tavey Smith also scored eight points.  Ciara Woods chipped in with seven points and 13 rebounds.

 

Portia Durrett led Seneca with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Niya Anderson added eight points.

Thursday February 25th

 

Sacred Heart Academy  (15-13)  vs.  Ballard  (19-10)  (Championship)

 

Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Mary Gordon Stough, 5-6 So. Jade Tubb, 5-10 Jr. Morgan Clemons, 5-4 Jr. Maddie Peabody, and 5-5 Jr. Hannah Washle.  Ballard coach Steve Kaufman countered with 5-11 Jr. Tavey Smith, 5-7 Sr. Nicole Heitz, 6-3 Jr. Ciara Woods, 5-6 Sr. Bryelle Bonds, and 5-7 Sr. Larissa Stafford.

 

Sacred Heart held a 30-15 advantage in free throw points in a 60-48 victory over Ballard.  Ballard had three players foul out; Bryelle Bonds, Ciara Woods, and 5-6 Sr. Vonda Thomas.  This was an accomplishment for Sacred Heart as they have lost three starters 5-11 Jr. Monica McGreal, 5-11 Sr. Jackie Hafele, and 5-6 Sr. Autumn Miller this season due to injuries and Ballard is a talented team.

 

Sacred Heart shot 35% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 30 of 44 free throws, pulled  down 36 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 18 Ballard turnovers.  Ballard shot 30.6% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bruins connected on 15 of 24 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 12 Sacred Heart turnovers.

 

Morgan Clemons led Sacred Heart with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Maddie peabody added 14 points and five rebounds.  Mary Gordon Stough chipped in with 11 points.  Clemons, Peabody, and Stough combined for 24 of 35 from the free throw line.

 

Larissa Stafford led Balleard with 12 points including two three point baskets.  Nicole Heitz added 10 points including eight of eight from the free throw line.  Tavey Smith chipped in with four points and 10 rebounds.  6-2 Jr. Jaylan Bodiford recorded four points, 10 rebounds, and five blocked shots.
