Paul Dunbar Coach Mike Sowers started the following lineup: 6-0 So. Ebony Rowe, 5-7 Sr. Chelsey Johnson, 6-1 Sr. Chantelle Pressley, 5-7 Sr. Pilar Walker, and 5-5 Sr. Megan LaRue. Lexington Christian Academy Coach Jason Semands countered with 6-0 So. Sarah Beth Barnette, 5-9 Jr. Anna Martin, 6-1 Jr. Clara Mitchell, 5-6 Sr. Hillary Thornton, and 5-10 Jr. Courtney Clifton.
Chelsey Johnson nailed a three point basket from the right wing with 1:28 remaining in the game to give Dunbar the winning points in a 47-45 victory over Lexington Christian Academy. LCA missed a closely guarded three point attempt as time expired.
This was a game of runs as Dunbar took a 25-15 lead at halftime sparked by a great defensive effort by Ebony Rowe who held LCA 's Anna Martin scoreless in the first half. Dunbar extended the lead to 34-19 but LCA closed out the third quarter with a 16-7 run to cut the deficit to six, 41-35, at the end of the quarter LCA went on a 10-0 run in the final quarter and took a 45-43 lead on a three point basket by Anna Martin. Dunbar scored on a basket by Chantelle Pressley and then on the game-winner by Johnson.
Dunbar shot 35.3% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Bulldogs connected on eight of 10 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored eight points off 11 LCA turnovers. LCA shot 34% from the field including five of 21 from beyond the arc. The Lady Eagles connected on six of 10 free throws, grabbed 24 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 18 Dunbar turnovers.
Chelsey Johnson led Paul Dunbar with 17 points including two three point baskets. Chantelle Pressley and Megan LaRue added nine points each. Pressley pulled down 10 rebounds. Pilar Walker chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, and four steals. Ebony Rowe recorded four points and nine rebounds. Courtney Clifton led Lexington Christian Academy with 16 points including three three point baskets. Anna Martin added 11 points and five steals. Clara Mitchell chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds. Sarah Beth Barnette recorded seven points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
