Lexington Catholic girls’ coach Jeff Hans has put together another great four days of basketball.  Twelve of the top twenty-five teams in the Lexington Herald-Leader pre-season preview are entered in this tournament.  They are #2 Lexington Catholic, #4 Manual, #5 Elizabethtown, #9 Henry Clay, #10 Clay County, #11 Montgomery County, #15 Mercy Academy, #16 Sacred Heart Academy, #18 Assumption, #22 Boone County, #23 Muhlenberg North, and #25 Mason County.

Many of the top players in the state are scheduled to play in this star-studded event.  Nine of the top twenty-five players in the Lexington Herald-Leader pre-season preview are featured in this tournament.  The players are #1 Natalie Novosel (Lexington Catholic), #4 Gwen Rucker (Henry Clay), #6 Ashley Rainey (Warren East), #7 Brittany Wilson (Manual), #11 Samantha Drake (Nelson County), #12 Maggie Prewitt (Montgomery County), #13 Tacarra Hayes (Marion County), #14 DeSarae Chambers (Mason County), and #16 Briana Green (Lexington Catholic).

The Lexington Herald-Leader preview also listed the best players in each region, and the number one ranked player in four of the sixteen regions is scheduled to play in this tourney.  The regionally ranked number one players in this event are (Region 4) Ashley Rainey, (Region 5) Tacarra Hayes, (Region 10) DeSarae Chambers, and (Region 11) Natalie Novosel.

There will be 55 games played in two gyms over a four day period, culminating in an overall championship game to be played on December 23rd.  I will attempt to provide a capsule report for each game with expanded coverage given to each game I personally view.  Spelling of players names varies from program to program and sometimes the heights of the players are not provided so I apologize in advance for any inaccuracies.
