Scott County (23-2) vs. Lexington Catholic (19-8)

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Tyler Portwood, 6-3 Jr. Cameron Hundley, 6-7 Jr. Jordan Lee, 6-4 Jr. Bud Mackey, and 6-3 Sr. Matt Walls.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Jr. Taylor Stewart, 6-2 Jr. Tyler Corvin, 6-5 Jr. Nathan Novosel, 6-6 Jr. Jordan Smart, and 6-3 Sr. Zach Newton.

Scott County overcame a 50-42 deficit midway throught the third quarter to defeat Lexington Catholic by a score of  74-65.  Nothing came easy for the Cardinals as they rallied from their third quarter deficit to lead 52-50 at the end of the quarter.  Lexington Catholic roared back to take a 60-53 lead in the fourth quarter.  The Cardinals, behind 17 combined points by Walls (nine) and Mackey (eight), closed out the game on a 22-5 run to earn the victory.

Scott County shot 40% from the field including eight of 22 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 26 of 36 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 20 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 39.5% from the field including seven of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 28 of 38 free throws, grabbed 29 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 11 Scott County turnovers.

Bud Mackey led Scott County with 31 points and seven rebounds.  Matt Walls added 27 points including five three point baskets and pulled down five rebounds.  Taylor Stewart led Lexington Catholic with 22 points and seven rebounds.  Stewart was four of nine from the field and 13 of 15 from the free throw line.  Nathan Novosel added 17 points and eight rebounds.  Novosel was three of five from the field and 11 of 16 from the free throw line.  Jordan Smart also reached double figures with 10 points.
