Lexington Christian Academy (0-2) vs. Lexington Catholic (3-0)

Lexington Christian Academy coach Huston started the following lineup:  6-3 Sr. A. J. Schmitke, 6-1 Sr. Jeremy Hobbs, 6-3 Jr. Patrick Nevitt, 5-10 Jr. Trace Helton, and 5-10 Jr. Cameron Marshall.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Jr. Taylor Stewart, 6-6 Jr. Jordan Smart, 6-5 Jr. Nathan Novosel, 6-3 Sr. Zach Newton, and 6-2 So. Taylor Botkin.

Lexington Catholic led 57-45 after three quarters but had to survive a late Lexington Christian Academy rally to earn a 71-64 victory.  LCA cut the deficit to one, 65-64, with less than a minute to play.  LCA later missed a chance to tie and Lexington Catholic hit their free throws down the stretch to ensure the victory.

Lexington Catholic shot 48.9% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line play.  The Knights connected on 21 of 24 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 21 LCA turnovers.  Lexington Catholic held a 39-16 advantage in total rebounds.  LCA shot 38.5% from the field including nine of 29 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 15 of 17 free throws grabbed 16 rebounds. and scored 23 points off 29 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  LCA actually shot a better percentage from beyond the arc (48%) than from inside the three point line (32%).  LCA held a 27-12 advantage in three point points.

Nathan Novosel led the victors with 20 points and nine rebounds.  Taylor Stewart added 17 points and 10 rebounds and Jordan Smart recorded 11 points.  6-2 Jr. Tyler Corvin came off the bench to score nine points and pull down five rebounds.  A. J. Schmitke led Lexington Christian Academy with 18 points.  6-0 So Tyler Townsend added 14 points.  Jeremy Hobbs also reached double figures with 13 points.
