matchboxtwenty.com has kind of almost opened! There's official tour dates and the postcard from May 20th (nothing new) and you can listen to Bent on 3 different formats.
4/20/00 - Oko lots of info. There's a one page article with the guys in the new Rolling Stone magazine with Sarah Michelle Gellar on the cover. If anyone gets that article please send in the article and/or any pics from it please email it to me.
The guys have started making the video for Bent. Rob said in an article to expect some new things from them in their video. The vid will be released (probably on TRL) May 8th.

4/11/00 - Here's an article
I found, but I forget where it came from!
There will be clips of matchbox twenty performing tomorrow on TRL
The new Matchbox Twenty page at
matchboxtwenty.com, now has a
front page with a picture of the new poster and a form where you can enter
your e-mail address to be notified when the page gets up.
4/09/00 - Thankies once
again to Tammy for sending in this
pic of Rob and Kid Rock from the new Teen People
magazine. Hopefully I'll get up a new page for pics from
magazines.
Also, there's a full picture of the new poster
of the guys.
4/08/00 - All I'm gonna
say is download a clip of "Bent" at B93.1
now!
4/06/00 - Thank you sooo
much to Tammy for these pics again!
Here are the two pictures from In Style magazine with Rob from the Grammys.
here.
Also, from USA Today - "matchbox twenty will launch a 13 city club tour may
19 in Alanta to promote the May 23 relaease of Mas Season, the follow-up
to 1996 debut Yourself or Someone Like You, which sold 10 million copies
in the USA. First single 'Bent' goes to radio next week. Upcoming tour dates:
4/05/00 - There are two
pictures of Rob in this months In Style

4/04/00 - Thank yah

pic click here.
4/01/00 - Today I got
the new Teen People magazine with Jennifer Lopez on it and there's a picture
of Rob with Kid Rock at the Grammys. The caption is "Rob Thomas (left, with
Kid Rock) wowed the star-studded crowd at Arista's Beverly Hills Hotel bash
with a performance of the Grammy-winning "Smooth" alongside Carlos Santana."
If anyone can scan the pic I'll give you mucho credit.
Also, there's another picture of Rob at a dinner party or something like
that in the Rolling Stone magazine with DMX on the cover.
And again, there's a cool article on the first single "Bent" and stuff about
the recording of Mad Season
here
3/25/00 - Ok, people,
my mistake. A few people have notified me, and I checked for myself, that
Matchbox Twenty is NOT in the March 25th Billboard Magazine. They're prolly
in next weeks.
Also, somehow Christine
from Just Hang got the Billboard Mag
article, or some of it, and it's got some kick ass news:
3/24/00 - More news. Thank
you soo much Natalie! At
Atlantic Records, they said
that mb20's gonna be on the cover of Billboard Magazine. Here's a lil' bit
on everything. And the first single isn't gonna be Black and White People,
it's gonna be Bent. Read on..
Considering all he's accomplished, you'd think Rob Thomas might have a bit
of an attitude. As lead singer for matchbox twenty Thomas is part of a
multi-platinum band, and separately Rob has gained worldwide recognition
for his work on Santana's smash hit single "Smooth." In co-writing and singing
on the track Rob scored three Grammys - but he's still as humble as ever.
Case in point - matchbox twenty are currently adorning the cover of Billboard,
and in the piece Rob Thomas gives many amusing anecdotes about fame. "I forget
that people recognise me" he states. "It's such a weird thing…You just
want to say to people 'I'm such a geek.'" Geek or not, Rob has a knack for
writing songs, and it's only a few weeks before fans will see the release
of the new single "Bent" off matchbox twenty's imminent sophomore release
entitled MAD SEASON BY MATCHBOX TWENTY. Of the new track Thomas relates,
"It's a love song and a rock song, there's a hopeful tone to it."
Atlantic Records put out the cover of the new album, Mad Seasons
3/20/00 - Yay! Adam finally
updated the postcard section ::hears angels singing in the backround:: He
said that they were finished recording the album and that yes, it's definetly
coming out May 23rd. He said that they're redoing the website with a lot
of new fun stuff and that they're working on fixing up the club,
finally, after never working. He also said some other stuff that I
don't remember, so go check out the postcard section
here
2/29/00 - Some news in
the Imax movie:
2/28/00 - Thankies
Sarah sooo much for submitting the
AOL Transcript!
By the way, the ad that Rob's in is in the March issue with Santana on the
cover.
2/26/00 - Okies, here
is enough news to fill your appetites for a long time, lol. Where to begin,
where to begin. How 'bout the AOL chat. The transcript isn't available yet,
but as soon as it is, I'll have it up on the site PDQ, lol. I heard that
Rob said in the chat that the album is now called Mad Season by Matchbox
Twenty and the inside of the CD booklet is supposed to be like a children's
storybook with each song being its own story. He also said that the songs
Black and White People, Rest Stop and Heavy are going to be on the album
with Black and White People being the first single.
I'm not exactly sure about this, but I think there's a pic of Rob in the
new Rolling Stone magazine, along with an ad that's in the new Rolling Stone
and People Magazine with Rob in it.
Adam updated the Q&A's. Nothing about the album, just a few questions
answered, but still worth a look.
There are pics from Rob's performance of "Smooth" at the Grammys on the official
site. Check 'em out
here.
Also, one last thing, at the Shad
Hills Band official website there is a picture of Rob with Shane and
Shad at the Santana w/Rob Thomas Imax movie shoot at the Brand Olympic theater
in Downtown Los Angeles. I can't think of how they're gonna make an Imax
film with Rob and Santana, lol.
The wedding of Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 to model Marisol Maldonado featured the bride in a striking Vera Wang gown and a reception catered by legendary chef Wolfgang Puck.
Matchbox twenty invited about 200 of their favorite industry "friends" from
the media, retail, and radio to help celebrate the release of their sophomore
album, Mad Season, in Santa Ynez, Calif. from Thursday (April 6) through
Saturday (April 8). The weekend included a private Friday night performance
at a small venue outside of the Zaca Creek restaurant where the group performed
all of their hits (from "3 a.m." to "Back to Good") and introduced some new
material from the album, before closing the set with an inspired cover of
Cyndi Lauder's "Time After Time." After an introduction by Bernie Taupin
that would make even Liam Gallagher blush, the band took the small stage
and kicked things off with the leadoff track on the new disc, "Angry" --
one of the many radio-ready songs of the new batch. Other highlights of the
new tunes include the first single, "Bent," which L.A. alternative radio
station KROQ jumped the gun on playing this weekend; the potential second
single, "If You're Gone," and the title track. Now that singer Rob Thomas
has the credibility of "Smooth" under his creative belt, hopefully people
can feel more comfortable admitting that Thomas is indeed a gifted songwriter
and passionate singer and that matchbox twenty should not be a "guilty pleasure"
anymore. Mad Season, the follow-up to 1996's Yourself or Someone Like You
is out May 23 on Lava/Atlantic, with the first string of dates kicking off
May 20 in Washington, D.C.
May 20, Washington
May 21, Philadelphia
May 24-25, Boston
May 27, Detroit
May 28, Toronto
May 30, Chicago
May 31, St.Louis
June 2, Houston
June 3, Dallas
June 6, Los Angeles
June 7 San Franciso
Woo hoo! Except NO NEW YORK! What am I (and all the other NYers) going to
do? And everyone else who doesn't live near the big cities? =o( I think we'll
all have to start a counceling group to get over this, lol.
'Bent' will be released to pop and rock stations on April 7, 2000. The weekend
following the single's release, Alantic Records will host a party at Lippman's
ranch in Santa Barbara, California (also where Rob and Marisol were married).
The party will be for the domestic and international music community, including
radio, retail, press, and worldwide Atlantic music executives. The evening
will also include a performance by the band. Following the single's release,
the guys will head out on their club tour as well as visit radio stations
around the country promoting 'Mad Season'. They will not do any in-store
appearances because they feel it's too dangerous.
Matchbox20 has decided to change the spelling of their name to Matchbox Twenty.
The reason for this is they wanted to distinguish themselves from all the
"number" bands out there (ie: Eve6, Eiffel65, 3eb, Marvelous 3, etc.). Along
with the new spelling of their name they will have a new site URL. The site
URL will now be www.matchboxtwenty.com. No word yet if they will eliminate
the original one completely or when the new one will be put to use. The new
site will include contests to win tickets for the club tour as well as provide
fans opportunities to purchase tickets.
Fans will also be able to purchase the limited edition of the album via the
Web site. According to Lippman, the first million units will feature special
packaging. "The concept is like a small children's book; it's bound, there's
no jewel case," he says. "After the first million, we'll go to a jewel box."
Matchbox20 should be heading overseas sometime in April, June, and January
to promote the album outside the United States.
All I have to say is, DAMN!
The article goes further to include Thomas' comments on nearly all thirteen
tracks on the band's upcoming MAD SEASON, due in stores May 23rd. Of the
new album's title (also the name of a track), Thomas stressed to Billboard
that it's about the rollercoaster the band has been on since success hit.
"It has nothing to do with being bad, it's just crazy. There are no handbooks
for any of this."

And the setlist is as follows:
1 Angry
2 Black & White People
3 Crutch
4 Last Beautiful Girl
5 If You're Gone
6 Mad Season
7 Rest Stop
8 The Bum
9 Bent
10 Bed Of Lies
11 Leave
12 Stop
13 You Won't Be Mine
Some of the biggest names in the music business will become larger-than-life
in February 2001 when the IMAX Corporation debuts All Access, a large-format
rock concert coming to an IMAX theater near you. Santana, Matchbox 20's Rob
Thomas, Kid Rock, George Clinton, Mary J. Blige, B.B. King, Sting, Sheryl
Crow, Moby, Macy Gray, and Phish's Trey Anastasio were all filmed for
presentation on IMAX's eight-story high movie screen while in Los Angeles
last week for the 42nd annual Grammy Awards(allstar, Feb. 24). In addition
to live footage, the film will also feature behind-the-scenes footage from
sound checks, rehearsals, casual conversations, and backstage.
2/25/00 - Ah! Sorry about the lack of updates. I know there's a lot of info I really need to get up, including news about the Grammys, interviews, the new cd, etc. etc. I couldn't put up a lot of this news because the computer that I'm using right now will not let me in to angelfire to update all I need to. I plan to have all the latest news I can possibly find on mb20/Rob up by Saturday night (2/26). I do have a few little tidbits that I will put up for now, but I plan to have the major news posted by tomorrow night. Also, for anyone who's on the mailing list, I will be sending out a big newsletter tomorrow night as well. If you would like to be on the mailing list, go here.
Last night there was an AOL chat with Rob. Unfortuantly I couldn't tell you guys about it or be there myself, but I have AOL at home and I will type up the transcript. If any webmasters don't have AOL and would like a copy of the transcript, please email me.
Rob has also been on a few TV shows, including Rosie, 60 Minutes and Extra talking about the Grammys and stuff. If I can find any info on when and if they'll be repeated, I'll let you all know. There's also been an interview with Rob in the New York Daily News. I havn't been able to read it yet myself, but I hear that it's a great interview. Check it out here.
And lastly, at the Grammys, the awards Rob won was Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Pop Collaboration w/Vocals, all for the song "Smooth".
2/22/00 - Today they had Carson Daly at the Grammys in LA on TRL, and he interviewed Rob! Sorry I couldn't get this info on so you could tape the second showing of it, but I just thought I'd let you know about the appearance. He talked about performing with Santana and stuff. Carson said he heard the album was coming out in April (the original date) and Rob said that it was late May and that he just got done recording some last-minute stuff in Nashville. Also, for those of you who saw it, Dave said that Rob was a good friend of his, and then Rob kept saying "Hi Dave" and stuff, well Dave was at Rob's wedding, so I think that they're pretty good friends ;o)
2/18/00 - Rob will be on MTV News1515 all this weekend talking about the grammies. Here are the times you can check it out:
Friday - 2/18 7:30 pm
Don't forget that starting tomorrow, the Grammies website are setting up the GRAMMYcams! From the GRAMMYcams you'll be able to keep an eye on the stage during rehearsals, watch the activity taking place at WebCentral, spy on backstage preparations, see who's wearing what during the Red Carpet arrivals and observe deliriously happy
GRAMMY winners as they come backstage to meet the
media. Hopefully we'll be able to see some rehearsals with Rob and Santana!
Saturday - 2/19 9:30 am
Sunday - 2/20 8:30 am
Sunday - 2/20 7:30 pm
Monday - 2/21 7:00 am
(http://bounce.to/ZenLaup20)
2/16/00Okay... I was perfectly fine with the May 2nd date, after it got pushed back from October to December to February to April 11th, but now they have to do it again! The new release date for Mad Seasons is now May 23rd. How much longer are they gonna make us wait!? All I have to say is it better be good to make us wait this long. Sheesh.
Oh, also, the name of the tour matchbox20 is going to be headlining is Diversity101. Jars of Clay is also supposed to be on that tour also.
2/05/00 - Yay! Okay, we've got some really good scans of the Guitar One Mag interview and we've also got the interview! Thankyou much to Joe from Up In Flames. Oko, so to read the interview click here and to see the great pics click here!
2/02/00 - Heh, I just realized the MTV interview that was on TRL a few days ago with Rob was typed up at the MTV website. Go here and click Feature to check out the very nice pics of Rob and to read the interview about working with Carlos Santana and a few lil' tidbits here and there ;o)
1/30/00 - Everybody, get Guitar One Magazine! I havn't seen it yet but it's got Adam and Kyle on the front (heard Kyle shaved a lot of his hair!) and a mucho big article inside with very juicy pics. We should have the article sometime tonight or at the latest tomorrow afternoon.
At MTV.com they have Rob Thomas featured under New Music Features and More Music on their main page. The page on Rob also has a great pic from the Smooth video, so go check it out now!
1/26/00 - Well yesterday on TRL and on MTV News (10 to the hour, every hour) there was a small interview with Rob on the subject of Santana and getting back with matchbox20. I don't remember exactly what he said but he was talking about how good it was to get back with the rest of the band and that it was good for them to have a little rest and think about life before they got back together. He also talked about how he was sort of "untouchable" because he did a duo with Santana, so it's sort of like if he's good enough to do something with Santana than he's got to be a good singer/songwriter. And that's just about it. He looked a bit thinner than he was in the Smooth video, but other than that he looked really good, as usual =o)
1/21/00 - Well, I totally agree with Christine (Just Hang) that whoever started the rumor about Rob breaking his arm should be shot, lol. If you hadn't heard there was a rumor that Rob slipped while filming the music video for "The Style" and broke his arm, but it's a false rumor! Adam updated the Q&A's and he confirmed that it's not true.
He was also talking about that he has no idea what "The Style" is. Here's what he has to say on that matter: "Now what is this 'TheStyle' business? Unless you all are reffering to bringing back bell bottoms, I have NO idea what that is...let alone a song, a video or a clothing collection. It means NOTHING in
connection to Matchbox20..."
Well then, a major mystery there. Adam could be lying and trying to freak us all out, but then he could be telling the truth. If he isn't lying then I wonder who bought that lyric sheet for almost $3,000. Something to think about...
1/16/00 Okies, in Entertainment Weekly, there is an article that states the name of matchbox20's new album, and they say it's going to be called Mad Season. Hopefully I'll have the full article tomorrow.
