In the Big Kmart sales ad in today's Sunday paper it shows Matchbox Twenty
"Mad Season" available on May 23 for $13.88. It also states that you get a
Kmart exclusive free Matchbox Twenty poster with purchase while quantities
last. In the Circuit City sales ad from the same paper it shows "Mad Season"
for $13.99 and states that you get a free 10 minute phone card with purchase
while supplies last. It does not show the phone card so I don't know if it
has a picture of Matchbox Twenty on it. (Thanks Emery!)
There's a hidden track on Mad Season. After the song You Won't Be Mine, there will be a great instrumental version.
There is an article on mbt (I think around 4 pgs long!) at http://www.usatoday.com/life/music/music070.htm
House of Style named mbt's Mad Season to be the third coolest CD this summer.
I ordered the limited edition MSBmbt from Artists Direct and got an email that said they shipped out the cd on Saturday. Hopefully everyone else who ordered from AD got a confirmation letter.
Also, the guys will be on 95.5 PLJ Monday from 3-4 in a "secret location" in Manhattan chatting with fans who were lucky enough to win on the radio to get their copies of Mad Season signed (too bad I was seeing them in DC, hehe).
(Also, look at the video from the road or something like that, I'm holding a sign at the DC show that says "Tattooed White Trash ROCKS", lol. I had to hold up a sign, so I picked that one off the ground).
5/19/00 - Sure the new album mad season by matchbox twenty isn't out 'til Tuesday the 23rd, but matchbox twenty are already groovin' live! They've been heating up clubs down South, and as of Friday (the 19th) they take the stage in Atlanta. Can't be there? Sure you can! Check back to the Atlantic news for reviews of the shows, photos and even video clips. We'll be there at each gig as matchbox twenty travel from Atlanta all the way up to Boston, check below for exact tour dates. Want more matchbox? Log onto AOL and go to Keyword: Live. The band will be online fielding questions the evening before mad season by matchbox twenty releases. Also don't miss matchbox twenty appearing on Total Request Live on Thursday the 25th at 3:30pm. Their lead single "Bent," has been clocking in regularly in the top ten. And if you like what you see, be sure to give 'em your vote and help "Push" "Bent" even higher.
5/17/00 - At the official site they said exactly what the limited edition Mad Season CD is all about:
Welp I just got my CosmoGirl in the mail today (pathetic huh? Lol) an' on page 106 is that ad for mbt again where they're standing in the room, except this one's got a white border around the pic which makes it kinda ugly. So that's in there.
Wow, I've just been flipping through and on page 82 there's a cd review. Here 'tis:
This limited edition is in special faux leather book form with bound pages
and will become extinct when limited supply is exhausted...so get yours
today!
Matchbox 20 , Mad Season
(wise words) (this rocks)
Reminds us of: Counting Crows
Great Lyric: It's amazing/ How you make your face just like a wall/ How you take your heart and turn if ott/ How I turn my head and lose it all
It's all about: Rob Thomas' funky vocals and heartfelt lyrics
And there's a cute lil pic of them on the stairs, but it's a new one. But it's soo small you can hardly see them clearly =o(
5/14/00Check out Spinner.com which features an exclusive ``Matchbox
Twenty Radio'' Internet radio channel.
The old website has been officially taken down, but by using the old
address, you will be taken straight to the new one as well as the address
http://www.matchboxtwenty.com
The guys will be on David Letterman on the 23rd performing Bent. Check your local listings for times.
There's an article at Atlantic that you can see here.
matchbox twenty is on the cover and featured in Launch, issue 40 and there's an
interview with Rob and Kyle and a live performance of Crutch.
Here's an article from Launch:
Matchbox Twenty has teamed up with LAUNCH to provide
web surfers a first look at the band's new video, "Bent," while the world awaits
the release of the sophomore album Mad Season By Matchbox Twenty. The album is due out May 23, but "Bent" already sits at Number 16 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart. While
viewing "Bent" online at LAUNCH, Internet users will also have a chance to win one
of two signed guitars from the band. The Ernie Ball guitars have been signed by the
Grammy-winning Rob Thomas and the rest of the band, and the promotion was made possible by Target stores.
Matchbox Twenty's first album, Yourself Or Someone Like You, was released in
the fall of 1996. The band spent the subsequent years on the road, and LAUNCH asked drummer Paul Doucette what keeps the band going strong.
"Staying busy. I think that has a lot to do with it -- the fact that we
haven't had time to soak it in, and we don't plan on it," he said. "We know that what we do is, you know we're not curing cancer, you know? We're not, like, stopping world hunger. We're a band and we put out a record. I'm glad people like it, but that's really not that great of a thing. That's kind of the view we have. It's, like, we're just a band. Right now that we're a band that people like and hopefully people will continue to like. I don't think that'll be a problem for us."
Also, someone said that they went to Wal-Mart and they had a poster of Rob and the guys with the peacocks. I'm not sure if that person could actually buy the poster, or if it was just for display, but it was there, along with signs saying that they're gonna be showing "Behind the Madness" on May 23rd in the electronics section (on all the TVs).
5/12/00 - There was another Street Team email sent out with mostly the same news, but with this extra bit of info:
Also, thanks to Shelley for this article from SonicNet.com:
In order to test market the different ways the
public can benefit from the impending merger between AOL and Time
Warner, Matchbox Twenty's second album, "Mad Season By Matchbox
Twenty," will come packaged with AOL software. The band's label,
Atlantic Records, is a division of Time Warner. To get things
running, AOL will offer a streaming version of the band's current
single, "Bent." The album, to be released May 23, will feature access
to AOL 5.0, the audio player Winamp and Internet music service
Spinner. Through Winamp, fans will be able to hear an unreleased
track, "You & I & I," recorded live in Australia. The CD will also
offer access to "Matchbox Twenty Radio," an Internet radio station
featuring 100 songs hand-picked by the band. Artists they chose
include Stevie Wonder and the Beatles. For more, click
here.
