1) If the TO: list has alot of names starting with the letter "A"
2) If the Subject: is "Important Message from Preferred Customer"
3) If the message reads "Here is that Document you asked for....don't show anyone else.

Please delete this e-mail message or the virus will affect other e-mail users you send alot of e-mail to.
ADVISORY ONLY: not a news release
The Army Virus Alert Center has released a VIRUS ALERT!!

Your McAfee Anti-Virus program DOES NOT protect you from the new"WORMs" that are going around on Email. Your ONLY protection is to delete any 'exe' file you receive. Portions of the alert follow in italics:

People running NAI (McAfee) AntiVirus products are currently vulnerable as there are no updates available yet. W32.Video.25600.Worm is a worm that is sent as an email attachment usually named VIDEO.EXE. The email message has no subject line. The body of the email message is:
"Here's a digital video for you Hypercool Happy Year 2000 funny programs and animations."

A second worm is also being transmitted by Email messages. Attached to the message will be one of the following file names:
g-zilla.exe
mammary.exe
cooler3.exe
cooler1.exe
copier.exe
video.exe
pirate.exe
goal1.exe
hog.exe
party.exe
saddam.exe
monica.exe
boss.exe
farter.exe
cheeseburst.exe
panther.exe
theobbq.exe
goal.exe
baby.exe
bboy.exe
cupid2.exe
fborfw.exe
casper.exe
irnglant.exe
xmas.exe
gadget.exe

Remember, 'exe' files can literally destroy the computer that the worm infects. Delete any you receive.

Worm (computer program): A computer program that propagates itself across computers, usually by spawning copies of itself in each computer's memory. A worm might duplicate itself in one computer so often that it causes the computer to crash. A worm is introduced into a host system either for entertainment or with intent to damage or destroy information. The term has generally been superseded by virus.
