Miho Nakayama---Deep Lip French---

---Deep Lip French---

I started to really like her when people at Formosa Transnational ("FT") found out that I looked like her poster: Deep Lip French. YY won the poster from the contest of The Love Letter, the most popular MIHO movie in Taiwan. I posted it on the wall right next to my desk in my office at FT in Taipei until I left Taiwan for the U.S. Actually, this picture of her was not particularly nice. It made people wonder if she was trying to be sexy and provocative as she was getting aged. Anyway, this poster connected her and me and I started to think I should be like her as much as I could, i.e., be graceful, elegant, tender, and beautiful.

Who is she?

Miho Nakayama was said to be the "Number One" beauty in Japan. There are numerous webpages reporting her already so I will not repeat them here. A lot can be found in the following webpages that I have been frequented: (To view most of the webpages below, you might need a browser or a software that can view Chinese (BIG5) charactors.

Japan's Number 1 Beauty: Miho Nakayama

Movie: The Love Letter

The love letter is my favorite Japanese movie. I think it is my favorite movie second to "The Big Blue". Japanese always tell stories in such a unique way, in which you can be laughing and crying at the same time. They are interesting people. Many people tried to interpret what the movie told us in cyberspace. I was just so touched and moved by all the subtle feelings revealed in the movie and enjoying being sensitive while I was still able to.

Songs

My favorite:"Sekai Juu no Dare Yori Kitto"
"You're My Only Shinin' Star"
"Hurt to Heart....."

Here are some of her songs that I downloaded from a Japanese website last year while working on my LL.M. paper at Harvard. I would watch her pictures and listen to her songs when I got tired of "electronic money", the main theme of my thesis. "Sekei" is my favorite one. There are two Japanese versions. One is too quick for me to follow the Japanese subtitle when I sing this song in KTV. The other one was said to be slow and beautiful but I have never had a chance to listen to it. Years ago Wang Shin-Ping and Kao Ming-Gene did another slower Chinese version which is quite popular in the KTVs in Taipei. I like it a lot and always ordered it when I was in Taipei. I actually do not understand what she was singing at all but ENJOY THEM!

Staring at You

I found this picture one afternoon in March, 1997 while surfing on the Internet for my electronic money research. She looked really nice and my hair style back then looked exactly the same with hers in this picture. I e-mailed this picture to my family in Taipei. My sister set it as the wallpaper in the desktop at home and told my father that it was me in the picture. My father actually believed it for a while. Then he realized that the one on the computer screen was just too nice to be his daughter. For this picture, I asked my sister to bring her black shirt and the silver necklace that we got from one of our aunts in CA to me last May when she came to the commencement at Harvard.

Changes

Miho looks kind of different in this picture. She looks really independent and decisive. She used to be only nice and sweet. This one gives her a little brain. After seeing this picture, I bought a silver thumb ring at Harvard Square as a gift for myself.

Pure White

This one looks clean and naive. I had the same hairstyle before I went to the U.S.

KOSE Commercial

This one was one of her KOSE commercial. I saw it in "WITH" magazine that I bought for a hair cut before I started my job in DC. I bought the magazine in NYC and had my hair perm and cut in Boston. A Japanese man tried to speak Japanese to me near Boston Common when he saw me walking by with the magazine. This is a classic Miho picture, clean and perfect, like a fairy.

Sunflowers in Spain

She went to Spain in 1998. I guess it was for the promotion of her new album. She took quite a lot of pictures there. I found it weird that Japanese have Spain mania. Japanese think they have a mysterious connection with Spain. Some of them dreamed that their previous lives were in Spain. I remember that in one of the TV soap opera, the guy left the girl because he could not forget his passion for Spain and a psychic told the girl that she was a Spanish dancer in her previous life and in their previous life, the guy left her, too.
