He'd rather tell a joke, rare his head
back, slap his thigh and laugh at your expression than
anything else. I remember him for that,
and for his garden, tomatos lining the railing
of the porch, him saying, get you some of those
to take home with you.

He was pretty good at dream interpretation too.

He passed away of cancer, in 1985.
