Samuel Adams

American Patriot & Politician

1722 - 1803

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Hot Issues From Linn County Iowa
Wednesday, 11 November 2015
Reguiem In Pace

At the September LCRCC Meeting we Laid To Rest what has for Decades been one of the Stalwart Supports of the Linn County Republican Central Committee.

That does sound much better than saying that  the majority stepped up behind a faithful servant of the Body  and Slit it's Throat,

No matter how you view it what has in the past IMO been THE Member Engine of the LCRCC is Gone.

We must hope that what has replaced it will do as good a job.

I would not hold my breath waiting though.

We had what was called Assistant Committee Persons. They did not have votes but could be heard from the floor ie make motions and engage in debate.

AND if one of the Two Permanent Committee Persons happened to be absent during  a meeting they could vote in their place.

We now have Associate Committee persons, Originally they were NOT to be allowed to make motions, but could engage in Debate

The Body did amend the proposed Change to the By Laws to allow the new Positions to make Motions.

They have no Voting privileges Period.

Notice the transition since our present Chair and Executives came to Power.

The previous sub Committees were Purged and replaced with Teams with a few changes

Only 5 members of a Team have voting rights and the Executives filled the Teams with members they approved of to give them voting control.

People who previously were very active in the Sub Committees were shut out if the Executives did not approve of them.

I had one person who said that they had been active on 3 Sub Committees but were not asked to be on any Team and saw no reason to bother because they would not have any say in anything.

Since our present Chair took over a Central Committee of about 200 members attending meetings

Somewhere around 90% of that membership has been Purged ie alienated or disenfranchised.

So that now with a very important political year pending the results of our Present Leadership has been to diminish the  LCRCC to a shell of what it once was.

And to wipe out any ability of half of what is left to trust them,

Which WILL impact volunteer levels for the 2016 Caucuses,

But that will be another Story

I kept seeing this comment about 200 people attending LCRCC meetings so I did some research. I looked at the minutes for 2011 thru 2015. The figures below represent the documented attendance of precinct committee persons and assistant committee persons representing their precincts.

2011 - average attendance 39.8, highest month 56

2012 - average attendance 93.09, highest month 136

2013 - average attendance 47.8, highest month 58

2014 - average attendance 60.6, highest month 77

2015 - average attendance 57.5, highest attendance 81

I did not find a single month where there were 200 in attendance. I also noticed that peak attendance seems to follow the caucus with peaks early in the first quarter of those years.

Then notice that in 2012 the highest attendance was in February following a Presidential caucus and closed out the year with 44. In statistics that's called reversion to the mean.

I forecast that 2016 attendance will rise again in the first quarter of the year following the caucus.

Just thought people would appreciate the facts.

Got the figure from someone involved in  the Committee and Credentialing a lot longer than the present Secretary.

Giving the option of believing one over the other,

Guess I will chose someone I have known for quite a few years.

The Secretary might be telling the truth all I have are two statements.

And while I have no personal count I do remember when we filled up two rooms during most meetings.

And I do recall the times member of the Executive Committee have looked me in the eyes and made an agreement with me

That turned out to be a total Lie.

So there is not much trust on my side any more

"Got the figure from someone involved in the Committee and Credentialing a lot longer than the present Secretary."

If there ever was 200 people in attendance when did that actually happen? How long ago was that? The implication in the blog was that the change was recent. Obviously that isn't true.

If there are other records perhaps they should be turned over to the Records and Candidate Support Team?

Trust is a two way street. Telling the truth, respecting others and working in a cooperative fashion requires more than barbs or twisting history. I don't recall that we have ever had an eye to eye conversation long enough to know each other.

I appreciated that the blogger promoted the Reagen Breakfast. But I would note that there are few other examples to promote the Linn County Republican Central Committee here. The author may disagree with individual people but publishing a constant flow of negatives does not reflect well on our organization. Perhaps that has had an impact in reducing the meeting attendance from past glory?

I'm happy to meet with anyone and have a civil discussion about the organization. I signed up as a Republican to respect Republican values and to support the party. So let's work together to honor the dignity and success of the Linn County Republican Central Committee.

I repeat I have been told two tales one would have to be wrong or mistaken,

I have no way of telling, I do know that one side in the past HAS lied to me.

So I won't use numbers of members from now on, but numbers of rooms

We used to fill 2 to almost overflowing now if it were not for guests we would rattle around in one.

I find it odd that Mr Ellis after all this time is the ONLY member of the Leadership to bother thanking me for my efforts to promote the Reagon Breakfast and the personal funds I expended in the same, I noticed a lack of gratitude at the last meeting

Some may have noticed that  I did not post for a while,. Truth be told I was tired,

But I had readers who kept asking me when they could expect another edition,

Even readers from the State Capitol, now THAT was a surprise!

So I am back get used to it

Anytime you like we can walk through the digital records I received from the past Secretary, they belong to the LCRCC. They do not reflect the size of the meeting room simply the attendnace.
